Yes, Frankenstorm has a much more ominous and Halloween-friendly ring to it. But the gentler, more goody two-shoes-in-black-leather, more obvious side to Hurricane Sandy and its internet meme potential involves Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. more »
Maybe it's my hairline, but I've always been partial to John McClane's brand of bald (and smirky) heroism. So, it's good to see my favorite hairless hard-ass Bruce Willis shooting up Russia with his cinematic son Jai Courtney (Spartacus) in the latest trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard. I'm not sure how I feel about Courtney as a potential heir to the McClane Yippie Ki Yay legacy. (For one thing, the kid has got way too much hair.) Then again, I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep over this because a Die Hard movie without Willis is not a movie I want to see. more »
Love or hate his shtick, Kevin Smith dropped some amusingly candid real talk on Larry King Now as he explained to the media kingpin why it is he's retiring from moviemaking after his forthcoming hockey film, Hit Somebody. "If I can’t bring anything new to the game, and I assure you I cannot, there’s no point in stepping up to the plate," said Smith, who also charmingly compared his 20 years behind the camera to getting an unexpected blow job. more »
The Evil DeadRed Band trailer doesn't hit the web until tomorrow — look for it here — but in the meantime, here's a little taste of the horror to come. This 36-second amuse bouche doesn't give up much until the final moments, especially if you've seen the 'leaked' trailer that had audiences at NY Comic-Con screaming. But it does feature the eternally amusing Bruce Campbell telling that same audience: "We know what you need. You need horror with blood flowing down the street. We know you need it.'' more »

Wanna count the number of successful movie franchises with a black lead? You don't even need one hand — two fingers will do: Shaft and Blade. Spike Lee grew up a year apart from Michael Jackson, so like anyone of that generation, or those that followed, and really anyone in the world who had a heartbeat in the '60s, '70s, '80s, or '90s he was fixated on the chameleonic pop star for decades. A new 60-second trailer for Lee's music documentary Michael Jackson: Bad 25 reveals a mesmerizing wealth of behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the King of Pop's iconic 1987 album Bad so riveting that it's clear Lee's as much obsessed fan as curious documentarian. more »

RZA is feeling good about his directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fists. In this Behind-the-scenes featurette, the Wu-Tang Clan leader says he didn't think he could top his musical work with the hip-hop group (or as a solo artist), which, he explains, led "to some of the greatest climaxes of my life." Okay! But after teaming up with "my boy Quentin Tarantino" and Hostel director Eli Roth to "make a fat joint of my own," RZA proudly proclaims "I have topped it." more »
That's right, Denzel Washington is such a gentleman he gave his actress wife Pauletta the spotlight on the red carpet for Flight, which closed out the 50th Annual New York Film Festival. Getting an answer from the celebrity couple was more difficult than getting an on-time flight out of Newark Liberty International Airport, thanks to a scheduling snafu that got Washington and his wife onto the red carpet late. This led what's known in the business as a soundbite stampede from the media who'd gathered at Lincoln Center in Manhattan.
