Brava to the dewy-cheeked Kristen Stewart, who opened Snow White and the Huntsman, the weekend's number one movie, by swinging a sword and championing girl power without having to kiss a single vampire! (Those two hunky human suitors and the riveting fabulosity that was Charlize Theron didn't hurt either.) Nice to see girls ruling while boys drooled over the box office -- well, their male-driven movies (Men in Black 3, Avengers, Battleship), anyway. Tell us what you saw this weekend as we go to the receipts!

You might guess most folks flocking to theaters this weekend for Snow White and the Huntsman are the legions of diehard fans of Twilight's Kristen Stewart, who stars in the fantasy adventure as the sword-swinging Snow White. Maybe, even, they'll come for co-star Chris Hemsworth — he of Thor and Avengers fame. But surprise, surprise — who'd have thought the big draw, at least for folks who hit opening day today, would be neither of SWATH's up-and-coming talent?

Why can’t heroines just be heroines anymore, instead of micromanaged personalities who may as well have the words “Role Model” tattooed across their foreheads? That’s the fate suffered by poor Kristen Stewart as the warrior princess athlete orphan Christ figure Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman. She’s not just Joan of Arc — she’s Joan of Archetypes.

Twilight fandom extends interest by association to every cast member's extra-Twilight projects, and sometimes that vampire bump pays off for relatives, too. Case in point: K-11, an intense-looking prison drama that's gotten considerable exposure from the fact that it's directed by Kristen Stewart's mother, Jules. (The erstwhile Bella Swan was also once attached to star in the film, which, watching this first look at K-11, would have been very interesting). Also: Goran Visnjic stars! Roll the promo.

Come on, admit it: You are going to miss The Twilight Saga when it's over — especially the delectably, heavily airbrushed countenances of the films' Big Three stars, glowering out from an eternity of repackaged DVD/Blu-ray sets, Twilight fan cruises, B-action notoriety, story-driven nudity and whatever else awaits beyond the horizon. I know I am! Forever, indeed. That is a very long time. I can barely finish this post conveying the new Breaking Dawn - Part 2 character posters, it is all so wrenching.

I know, I know — to paraphrase a popular rejoinder to the overexposed, "How can I ever anticipate On the Road if it won't go away?" Nevertheless, consider the two new clips released by IFC Films as complements to Brian's coverage from Cannes, where the long-awaited Jack Kerouac adaptation premiered this morning.

The French Riviera got a triple dose of star power as Brad Pitt breezed into town for his Killing Me Softly premiere, where the goofy Pitt got snap-happy with the paparazzi. The Andrew Dominik debut was followed by another star-studded to-do as Twilight's Kristen Stewart and her On the Road co-stars hit the red carpet, joined by Robert Pattinson (who will unveil his own Cannes flick, David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, on Friday). Check out Movieline's updated Cannes gallery for pics from the fest!

More than half a century has passed since Jack Kerouac's On the Road was published and over 30 years since Francis Ford Coppola bought the rights to the book. Only today, in one of the Cannes Film Festival's most anticipated events, has director Walter Salles's adaptation finally screened for its first audience.

The best tidbit about E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey S&M erotica series, besides the fact that your mother may be reading the salacious bestselling tomes right this very second, is that the book trilogy began, as great cultural touchstones do, as Twilight fan fiction. So it's all sorts of strange to watch Kristen Stewart and her Snow White and the Huntsman castmates Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, and Charlize Theron reading steamy passages from the naughty, naughty 50 Shades of Grey aloud. Awesome or creepy (or both)? You decide!

The long wait is over for fans of Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, revisionist fairy tales, dwarf clans, and summer blockbusters in general: The world premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman is getting underway shortly in London. For those of you in America, Movieline will even save you the travel expense by bringing the red carpet to you live.

It's one thing for distribution deals to precede the Cannes Film Festival. It's another thing altogether for the actual absurdity of the annual event to commence before anyone even sets foot on a red carpet. To wit, get a load of this Canadian company trying to sell press access to their stars Kristen Stewart and Brad Pitt. Tacky!

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival remains a week away, but the wheeling and dealing is already underway — and probably not coincidentally, for competition films starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Last week it was Pattinson's edgy David Cronenberg collaboration Cosmopolis going to E One, and tonight it's Stewart's long-awaited Jack Kerouac adaptation On the Road — just announced as the proud acquisition of IFC Films and Sundance Selects. Read on for the full details, and stay tuned to Movieline for more fest news as Cannes 2012 approaches.

There's nothing terribly sensational here to get excited about in the first two official stills from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, except for -- ZOMG! -- a certain pair of blood-red vampire eyes staring out at us amidst the smoldering looks and pale prettiness on display. And the almost surreal perfection of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner's complexions. Fun fact: Twilight's vampires not only sparkle in the sunlight, they never have to blink. Hit the jump for images!

Twilight fans need to hear just one word to understand why this rather standard-looking pillow is going for thousands on Ebay: "Feathers." Yes, that's right -- the prop pillow that Edward Cullen shredded during his in flagrante honeymoon sexing with Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is up for auction by the prop reseller Hollywood Parts, which guarantees the authenticity of the item with this lovely detail: "Make up stains from the main actors can be seen on the pillow." (Butter-colored, I presume?) Somehow it's still available for the low, low Buy It Now price of $2,999.99. And I thought shoes from the future were a good investment... [eBay via Examiner]
"It sounds creepy, but basically I just enjoy looking at her face, and think about it a lot. Even when she was a child actor in Panic Room, she just always appears very, very tired. She looks like she has an old soul. There's something about her presence on camera and how she carries herself. She's very intriguing. A lot of times, it looks like she hasn't slept for two days and it's exciting to think about: 'What were you doing? Why were you awake so long? What were you thinking about?'" Julia Vickerman's MUCHOS KSTEW, comprised entirely of artwork inspired by Twilight's Kristen Stewart, runs through April 20 at L.A.'s Meltdown Comics. [Next Movie]
