Kristen Stewart (Getty Images)

On this day in the year 1990, Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born in Los Angeles to a script supervisor mother and father who works in television. Who'd have guessed that she'd grow up to become the highest earning actress in Hollywood before she was old enough to drink? Thanks to the Twilight films, Stewart's star rose in the blink of an eye (okay, four years and soon to be five movies), but she also deserves credit for racking up indie cred between bouts of vampire swooning. On the occasion of her 22nd birthday -- and with 22 features to her name to date -- let's name Stewart's finest onscreen moment.

Rupert Sanders On Dark Snow White and the Huntsman, 'Twilight Girl' Kristen Stewart, and Tarsem’s Mirror, Mirror

Snow White and the Huntsman

It may be indicative of Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders’ fearlessness – or his newness, this being his feature debut – that, after presenting much-anticipated footage to fans yesterday at WonderCon, he nonchalantly dropped the vivid phrase “dwarf gangbangs” into a discussion about his dark (and yes, likely PG-13) allegorical fairytale actioner. (Now that’s how you get the attention of a certain demographic.) For the record, there are no such scenarios in June's action-packed SWATH, but there were many more revelations and key insights to be had into Sanders’ take on the age-old tale, which stars Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and debuts two months after that other Snow White movie dances into theaters.

Nick Frost on Tintin, Spielberg Love, The World's End, and Snow White and the Huntsman

Nick Frost on Tintin, Spielberg Love, The World's End, and Snow White and the Huntsman

In the decade or so since Nick Frost first made a name for himself on the BBC comedy series Spaced, much has happened. For starters, he's not waiting tables at that Mexican restaurant. He's moved with ease from television to film, most famously in genre riffs Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz (with Spaced comrades Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg), and in the alien geek ode Paul (which he co-wrote and stars in with Pegg). Also notably, Frost has ventured out from the fold in films like Pirate Radio and the forthcoming Snow White and the Huntsman. And, with this week's The Adventures of Tintin, he notches another milestone: Working with his hero, Steven. Steven Spielberg.

On Bella's Desire and Beyond: Going Deep on Breaking Dawn with Twilight's Melissa Rosenberg

On Bella's Desire and Beyond: Going Deep on Breaking Dawn with Twilight's Melissa Rosenberg

Throughout the Twilight franchise, one screenwriter has adapted author Stephenie Meyer's bestselling book series about a teenager and her love for a vampire for the screen: Melissa Rosenberg. It's a tricky job, balancing the desire to satisfy fans with the need to make Meyer's 500+ page-novels cinematic, all while transforming heroine Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) from unsteady teen to self-possessed woman. But in Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Bella finally is an agent of her own destiny, her senses awakened, and her choices confident. Was she, as Rosenberg insists, an active heroine under the surface just waiting to spring into action all along?

REVIEW: Broken Beds! Bloody Placenta! Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Goes to Crazytown — Almost

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part I is such a departure from the previous three Twilight pictures that you could almost consider it a rogue offshoot. Director Bill Condon steers the franchise away from visions of wan, suffering teens and fake-fur werewolf tussles and brings it closer to -- if not necessarily close to -- something resembling human adult sexual obsession and its attendant responsibilities and anxieties. It's like Jules and Jim for the Tiger Beat set.
