I should admit up front that I've long been skeptical of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's off-screen romance. They make a beautiful couple, as the Twilight franchise box-office numbers demonstrate, but, if you ask me, their real-life relationship has always had an odor of Hollywood hoodoo — the inspired idea of some marketing or public-relations executive who saw a way to keep fan interest in the blockbuster saga alive between movies. more »

Twilight has been credited with really putting Comic-Con on the map, or if it was on the map already, then it put the massive fanboy (and girl) genre-action-science-fiction-nerd-thriller-bonanza front and center in the mid-July pop culture consciousness. But now the franchise is complete, but the cast came out en force to promote the film (not that it should have much problem luring adoring audiences and their cash). At the event, Beyond The Trailer host Grace Randolph speaks with the stars including Taylor Lautner who gives his personal feelings about Jacob and Robert Pattinson who offers up his view on whether his character has redefined "prince charming." Despite a relatively quiet Cannes reception that offset some early great expectations, my anticipation remains high for Cosmopolis, David Cronenberg's adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel. This new US trailer doesn't hurt, plunking leading man Robert Pattinson into the middle of a global cataclysm that's partly of his making and partly just Welcome to New York - Now Go Crazy.

There could be a new cold-blooded young buck waiting in the wings to play 007 if and when Daniel Craig is over his stint in the role. Heartthrob Robert Pattinson is eyeing the future post-Twilight and has dabbled recently with roles in Bel Ami (which didn't do so spectacularly at the box office) and Cosmopolis which opens in the U.S. next month, but failed to whip up a frenzy in Canada where it opened last month. Still, the dashing actor packs some fan-base mojo and James Bond could be a place down the line and the actor has taken a peek.

Summer's gearing up (though it is still spring) with the latest blockbustery types hitting screens around the country. Madagascar 3 opens with everyone's favorite wild animals on another adventure, this time escaping the serene lands of Africa for a mis-adventure in Europe as they try and make their way back to their beloved - err - New York. Ridley Scott's crew leaves Earth altogether in Prometheus, which has already shown box office snuff overseas. Will it catch on here? Pattinson said in Cannes there wasn't much in the way of rehearsal before he began shooting the David Cronenberg-directed film and that he "worried" in his hotel room before it all began. Distributor Entertainment One said it will hit U.S. theaters August 17th, well after its release north of the border.

Though he plays one of the great roués of literature – the social climbing, bloomer-dropping hero at the center of Guy de Maupassant’s 1895 novel – the focus on Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami is notably above the belt. This is certainly true in the literal sense, where first-time directing team Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod lavish attention on Pattinson’s extraordinary face, even get a little lost in it at times. But it also feels like the source of a larger lack – that of the libidinous physicality and charismatic breadth of a well-rounded scoundrel.

He traveled to Cannes for the world premiere of David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis in which he plays a multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey through New York City (mostly in his limo) and he stars in Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod's Bel Ami in which he portrays a man grabbing power by manipulating Paris' most wealthy women. And of course there was his most recent annual win for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend (he and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart have taken the "prize" for four years straight - those sexy things).
