I've always had a weak spot for Andy Samberg's impression of Nicolas Cage on SNL's Weekend Update, which the show revived over the weekend to help pimp the NBC Universal property Battleship. This called for the appearance of that film's co-star Liam Neeson — or Neese's Pieces, or Tall Bono, or Leslie Nielsen, or whatever else Cage felt like calling the actor when he wasn't wondering, "Which Jewish masseuse do I have pork to get a gig in this town?"

Just in time for the rerelease of The Artist, Tom Selleck is the latest celebrity to come out against the Oscar-winner's wonder dog Uggie. "As much as I like him — and he's a cute dog — he kind of panders a little bit," the actor told Conan O'Brien last night before going on to extol the awards-caliber virtue of his Jesse Stone co-star Joe, the golden retriever who lost to Uggie at last year's inaugural Golden Collar Awards. And it gets better — for us, that is. Uggie, not so much.

It's a tough life being a Broadway standby — knowing a part backward and forward, exhibiting months, even years of patience while literally waiting in the wings for your chance to play the role you're backing up for the star of the show. Everyone knows there are kicks aplenty in the 1989 Jean-Claude Van Damme muy thai action classic Kickboxer, in which the Muscles from Brussels portrayed an American avenging his brother against a fearsome Thai fighter. But you really get an appreciation for just how many bone-crunching legs and feet and knees were unleashed in the action classic in this brilliantly hilarious, deceptively simple supercut that whittles Kickboxer down to, well, just the kicks. The actor has teamed with activist/author John Prendergast to further raise awareness of the ongoing human rights crisis in Congo, helping produce a series of videos documenting "amazing lives in a place the world has left for dead."
