Nolan's final stint in the trilogy is expected to fetch box office records this weekend and so far reviews have been mostly positive, but a few critics gave TDKR a thumbs down and some fans went ballistic. On Monday a shockwave rippled through the delicate ecosystem that is the internet, the place where fans, critics, commenters, bloggers, and lurkers live and breathe (and mouth-breathe), over the first reviews of The Dark Knight Rises. The Bat- and Christopher Nolan-faithful rose in arms against the first critics who dared break the news that the comic book movie threequel was maybe not the best movie of all time. Threats were made. Nasty comments were flung. Entire websites were overrun and taken out in retribution. So I ask you, Bat-fans: What Would Batman Do?

The Batmobile has had quite the evolution since actual volition appeared in the '60s television version to its altogether super-suped up version heading your way in The Dark Knight Rises. Its latest incarnation includes some nifty gadgetry including a rocket launcher, the vehicle's creator Andy Smith told Beyond The Trailer host Grace Randolph at Comic-Con where the vehicle, aka The Tumbler, is on display along with previous versions of The Batmobile. Smith has a history in race car work and worked on a car for a James Bond film and for an earlier Batmobile back in '89. The current Tumbler is a hybrid of a Humvee and Lamborghini and it's the only one that has ever been named something other than a 'Batmobile.'

The Dark Knight Rises director heaped praise on actress Anne Hathaway ahead of the final Batman installment, which opens July 20th. He said Hathaway performed so well as the human-feline-vixen that she deserves her own spin-off movie. But that doesn't necessarily mean the British-born filmmaker will spearhead a Catwoman enterprise himself.

WB has delivered a final-final trailer in advance of The Dark Knight Rises' July 20 debut, filled with more explosions and Bane-shots than ever before! Watch as Tom Hardy hangs by his fingertips to an airplane seat, cool as a cucumber, as chaos erupts around him. Listen as he (almost-intelligibly, even!) calls out Bruce Wayne/Batman before tossing our hero's broken mask to the ground on his way to lunch. It's all in a day's work for Hardy's Bane, who's come to Gotham City to kick ass and chew, uh, scenery with frail Christian Bale and catty Anne Hathaway. And guess what he's run out of? Ass!
