Susan Boyle haters can thank Lou Reed this morning for causing the Britain's Got Talent sensation to flee the states. TMZ reports that Boyle flew into Los Angeles yesterday to sing "Perfect Day" on America's Got Talent but the performance was 86-ed at the last minute when Velvet Underground lead singer Lou Reed refused to give her permission to perform the song because he "is not a fan." Upon learning the news, Boyle promptly fled the set in tears, returned to LAX and hopped on a plane back to London. [TMZ]
On last night's very special Colbert Report, Vice President Joe Biden and Stephen Colbert served hot dogs, beer and green grass to the returning troops. Elsewhere, Chelsea Handler ripped on her old friend Jay Leno, Julianna Margulies shared her commencement secrets and James Lipton earned $4 from Craig Ferguson the hard way.

· Yow-ow-ouch. It sounds like a Gallagher stunt gone terribly wrong, but it's even crazier than that: CBS has released a video preview for the new season of The Amazing Race where one unlucky contestant's attempts to fling a watermelon go terribly awry. Clutch your face for dear life. [CBS Twitter]

TNT is finally moving forward with that Dallas reboot you were (not really) hoping for. As announced last December, Cane creator Cynthia Cidre is penning the project, which will center on the sons of bitter rivals JR and Bobby Ewing. Filming will begin shortly on the pilot, which is said to guest-star original cast members Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, and Patrick Duffy. No word yet on who will portray the next generation Ewings, or if this will suffer from the same problems as similarly schizophrenic reboots like 90210 and Melrose Place. [Vulture]
Just as they'd promised us last December, the Paley Center has officially announced they're staging a television award show for May 2012. Phew. I was just thinking that the TV Guide Awards, Cable ACE Awards, and American Film Institute's television ceremonies were all great ideas and enjoyed incredible ratings. Man. So what do we know about the fete?

We didn't need more confirmation that Piers Morgan will take over for Larry King next year, but here we have it: Morgan and CNN have released a statement announcing that he will "fill the legendary suspenders" in January. Huzzah. While we've already coped with the fact that Morgan will say, "Hello, Tuscaloosa!" with little flair, it's time to consider whether the America's Got Talent judge's new gig will be 2011's greatest TV snafu.

Three years after CBS brass rejected Katie Sackhoff as Jorja Fox's replacement, CSI producers have finally succeeded in casting the 24 alum in a potentially recurring role on the procedural. According to EW, Sackhoff will play "Detective Reed, a smart, tough, and feisty investigator with an acknowledged lack of sensitivity." Sounds like a perfect fit for the actress, who told Movieline about her thrill-seeking nature last spring (she loves being waterboarded, fellas!). Look for Sackhoff's character to appear during sweeps in November. [EW]
I know what you were thinking after last month's 62nd Emmy Awards: "Where the hell was that JetBlue guy Steven Slater and why wasn't he included in television's most important night?" Well, maybe you weren't thinking that but at least one star was, according to Slater's publicist.

"Whatever happened, happened," Daniel Faraday proclaimed about a year and a half ago. Oh, sure, somebody said it before that, but Lost's time-travel maxim is freshest on my mind these days, and especially during last night's Warehouse 13, when Pete and Myka used H.G. Wells's time machine to jump back to 1961 and solve -- but not prevent -- a series of murders. Click through for the time machine specs and our weekly roundup!

Mine is pretty sad! But that's almost like a kind of default position with everything going on these days -- it's not even like he needs to lose his dearest confidante in California or have an epic showdown with Peggy Olson to have a Tumblr called Sad Don Draper. Click through to have a look at what's making our man Don despondent today (at least here), and pass along any of your own if you've got 'em.
