WATCH: Sam Rockwell & Company Shoot The Shih Tzu On Seven Psychopaths Red Carpet

Sam Rockwell joined writer/director Martin McDonagh and others for a special screening of Seven Psychopaths, hosted by The Cinema Society along with Hugo Boss and Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum.  And what gangster doesn't enjoy watching a movie in his best suit while nursing a choice drink?

And why are all these gangsters in the flick so dog happy?  McDonagh cheekily claims he was inspired to make a canine-themed movie after seeing all the accolades Uggie got last year in The Artist!

REVIEW: Gleefully Insane Seven Psychopaths Is Meta Movie Mayhem

REVIEW: Gleefully Insane Seven Psychopaths Is Meta Movie Mayhem

While I hate to quibble over the details, Martin McDonagh's Seven Psychopaths really contains only six of the nutjobs promised promised in the title — unless you want to count the main character, Marty (Colin Farrell). Marty, an Irish screenwriter living in Los Angeles who likes to drink but wouldn't say he has a drinking problem (though others might disagree) and considers himself an observer of the increasingly and often hilariously crazy events that unfold in the film.

Why it's an Inessential Essential: Director David Gordon Green’s transition from being an American indie darling to a reviled slacker-comedy pumper-outter is kind of astonishing. One minute, he’s being praised for being the Terrence Malick-inspired director of such films as George Washington and All The Real Girls; the next he’s being put down for making lazy pot comedies like Your Highness and The Sitter. But the thing of it is: Green’s comedies don’t deserve to be compared to good movies.

Exclusive: Jonah Hill to the Rescue in Sitter Deleted Scene

With both an Oscars appearance and a No. 1 movie within the last month, Jonah Hill's 2012 is on pace to exceed even his stellar 2011. And the folks behind The Sitter know it, dropping the David Gordon Green-directed comedy on DVD and Blu-ray this week for prime placement amid Jonahmania. But they also know, as Green mentioned in interviews last year, that the 81-minute movie yielded a trove of deleted scenes — one of which Movieline is debuting right here and now.
