Reasons to Love Kate Gosselin, No. 743

It's ridiculous gossip but it's also the funniest effing thing you'll read all day: "Kate is serious about going Hollywood and thinks dating a celebrity is a great idea," a "pal" "told" PopEater's Rob Shuter. "When Kate sees how Tom Cruise changed Katie Holmes life, it became clear that she needed to do the same. Obviously, she knows she's not yet ready to date a George Clooney, but she thinks she would be the perfect partner for a Jeff Goldblum or someone like David Hasselhoff." Hmm. Would she settle for Steven Seagal? [PopEater]

TV Bites: Another Day, Another CBS Project For Julie Chen

· 'Tis the season for developing daytime talk pilots. Yesterday, ABC revealed that it was designing a pilot for Tori Spelling and today, CBS insiders have confirmed that the Tiffany network is working on an A.M. panel chat show for Julie Chen. Being described as direct competition for The View, Chen's program would be geared towards mothers and include Sara Gilbert (Roseanne) as a co-panelist and executive producer. Chen, a CBS anchor and the host of the network's reality competition series Big Brother, had her first child with husband and CBS chief Les Moonves in September. [NYP]

What's On: Top Model Meets The City

It is shaping up to be an exciting night for television. In spite of death threats by radical Muslims, South Park is still scheduled to air the second part of its Muhammad double-header. Meanwhile Mariska Hargitay will get punched in the face on tonight's slaughterhouse-themed episode of Law & Order: SVU. Heather Locklear Arrested for Hit-and-Run

It's not a great time to be Heather Locklear right now. The actress's return to Melrose Place hasn't improved the show's bleak future any, and now, reports TMZ, Locklear has been arrested for a hit-and-run (so 90210!) that took out a "no parking" sign in her Westlake Village neighborhood. This is the actress's second arrest in two years, and as for her parole? I'm not so sure it dissipated. [TMZ]

Mariska Hargitay Gets Punched, and 3 Other WTF Moments From Tonight's Law & Order: SVU

Movieline does not condone violence against women, but when Law & Order: SVU teases an episode in which Mariska Hargitay's character is punched in the face while going undercover as an eastern European slaughterhouse worker, I am setting my TiVo. Here are four WTF moments promised in tonight's episode "Beef," as well as the most enticing SVU promo in the show's eleven-season history.

Gabourey Sidibe's SNL Promos: Love Letters in the Samberg

New promos have been released for Gabourey Sidibe's hosting gig on Saturday Night Live this week, and they accomplish a number of things: 1) They stave off Howard Stern's pesky doubts about her future. 2) They prove this show could be fun -- unlike, say, last week's episode, and 3) They pair Sidibe with Andy Samberg and reference Precious in a fun way, even if they neglect to mention the Kabletown title Fresh-Ass: Based on the Novel Tush by Assfire.

Dancing with the Stars: Kiss Us Goodbye, Kate

Yep. Last night, America curtailed its instinct to prolong Kate Gosselin's unending grief on Dancing with the Stars and rendered her an octogoner. Sad. I mean, not really. You know what was sad, though? A hateful trend that is developing in this competition -- one that has nothing to do with Bruno Tonioli's overstimulated aorta.

American Idol Recap: Who 'Inspired' Us Most?

Last night, American Idol battered us with selections from its most syrupy set list yet: Inspirational Songs. Run, Bowersox! Rod Stewart wouldn't touch half of this nonsense in a "Great American Songbook" package, and lord, that says it all. Still, we got seven performances, seven consultations with the catatonic Alicia Keys, and one obvious winner. Our rankings and video after the jump.

Gleebasing: Schue Empowers the Classes, Madonna-Style

Ryan Murphy must have cut last night's hit of Glee with something wicked. After the jump, Movieline recounts the the highs, analyzes the low notes and determines which numbers were just bad hallucinations. And pay attention -- there will be a pop quiz.

What Leonard Nimoy's Retirement Means to Fringe

Unless you're a giant nerd, you might not have noticed that Leonard Nimoy announced that he's retiring from acting: "I've been doing this professionally for 60 years. I love the idea of going out on a positive note." The positive note he refers to is J.J. Abrams's Star Trek, a film series that he'll have no problem detaching from -- after all, one Spock is really enough. But what of Nimoy's other Abrams enterprise, Fringe? That's where things get more complicated.

Late Night Highlights: Jay Goes Undercover and Jon Stewart Attacks Fox News

Twitter is literally ruining late night. Case in point: last night's Late Show with David Letterman, where guest Demi Moore used her first segment to explain Twitter (before reading a text message aloud from her husband). For her second segment, the Joneses star staged a Twit pic with the host. Forget the fact that Moore pulled the same schtick over at the Tonight Show last week. This social networking phenomenon is breeding a late night trend that must be stopped. The proof, as well as the actually entertaining highlights you missed last night while taking your last holiday hit, after the jump.

23 Questions About Lost Episode 613, 'The Last Recruit,' Answered!

Previously on Lost: Your faithful recapper Mark Lisanti did an excellent job answering the questions left in each episode's aftermath, but in this new sideways universe, I'll be taking over those duties for one week (also, Desmond keeps trying to almost-kill me, and it's getting to be a little much). In other news, Hurley faked a seance with Jacob to reunite most of the show's principal cast members, Claire presented her stylist with a picture of Crystal Bowersox, and Locke got run over. What does it all mean? Let's investigate in a round of Questions and Answers.
