Newsies, perhaps the greatest Bad Movie We Love, will hit Broadway as a new musical from Sept. 15-Oct. 16 at Millburn, New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse. Original composer Alan Menken is signed on, and he says the show "latche[s] onto exciting elements of what we had in the movie," while "minimizing the things that were not so great about the movie." This is a man who understands lovable badness. [NYT]
Before heading out to participate in whatever Valentine's Day activities you have planned for this evening, here's one story guaranteed to make you go, "Awww!" The Los Angeles Times caught up with those adorable choir kids from P.S. 22 in Staten Island to discuss their trip to California for the Oscars, and it's filled with little flourishes like this: "'I always wanted to be in Disneyland!' exclaimed Mohammed, small and excitable. 'I'm dying, I'm DYING!' He threw an arm across his forehead and fell to the ground in mock-death." Yeah, this is cute.

Since Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was already taken -- and since Spider-Man already exists, and came out only nine years ago -- Marc Webb and Sony Pictures have landed on The Amazing Spider-Man as the title for their highly anticipated Spider-Man reboot, thus ensuring that hacky box office reporters have a headline for July 3, 2012. (Spider-Man Opening Amazing!) In other friendly neighborhood news, a new production still of Andrew Garfield in his Spidey costume has been released, this time with the mask included. Is this actually Garfield in the still or just some extra? Click ahead to decide for yourself.

Oh, for the days when a new Twilight still meant some butter-colored sex. To take advantage of Valentine's Day -- or maybe to throw bloggers a bone on a slow news day -- Summit Entertainment has released another image from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Does it include a shirtless Taylor Lautner? More Bella-Edward baby making? Perhaps a glimpse at the Volturi or Baby Renesmee? Nope! Just a -- well, why don't you click ahead to see for yourself.

· It wouldn't be a day on the Planet Earth without some news about Charlie Sheen. The latest? Sheen called into The Dan Patrick Show to blast his Two and a Half Men employers about shutting down show production. "We're on forced hiatus," Sheen said. "They said you get ready, we'll get ready. I got ready, I went back, and nobody's there. I don't know what to tell you, Dan, nobody's there [...] I'm here and I'm ready, they're not. Bring it." Consider it broughten, Chuck. Ahead, listen to Sheen's latest rant (pause to imagine a world where Charlie Sheen didn't matter), then stick around for more Buzz Break.

Zhang Ziyi's new movie Mulan, the Legend of a Woman Warrior (Jin Guo Ying Xiong) may be based on a sixth-century Chinese folk story, but the poster would lead you to believe it originated in 1998 alongside a dragon played by Eddie Murphy. Since I want this movie to be great (and since Speed director Jan de Bont will direct an English-language version), let's take a look at this poster and point out some strange likenesses.

To say that Lea Michele has been waiting to meet Barbra Streisand for a long time is a bit of an understatement. When Movieline caught up with the Glee star last summer to play My Favorite Scene, all she could talk about was Babs' star-making turn in Funny Girl. "I just related to that movie so much," she said. "It's my favorite movie ever." As anyone who saw her performance at the Tonys -- or any minute of Glee, in general -- can attest, she wasn't lying. So, what would happen if Michele ever got the opportunity to meet Streisand out in public? Some hyperventilating and tweeting, of course.

The running joke amongst long-time Howard Stern listeners is that he invented everything -- hoo hoo, Robin -- but The King of All Media did tseem to legitimately create something brand new over the weekend: The Twitter Commentary. During a Saturday afternoon showing of Private Parts on HBO, Stern used his Twitter handle (@HowardStern) to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. Nothing earth-shattering -- would you be surprised to know that Jenna Jameson was comfortable being naked? -- but easily one of the best celebrity uses of the medium to date. Sorry, Kanye West and your half-assed attempt to live-tweet the Grammys! [@HowardStern]
Also in this Valentine's Day edition of The Broadsheet: Marion Cotillard might also be cast in The Dark Knight Rises... Radiohead announces that they will release a new album in less than a week... Die Hard 5 gets a director... and more ahead.

It's possible that 11-11-11, which the trailer proudly proclaims is from the director of Saw II, III and IV, will be one of the most terrifying movies ever made. That is, until about nine months from now when November 11, 2011 comes and goes with no major apocalyptic events taking place. Unless...some sort of terrifying gate to hell or a demon world is actually going to open before the end of the year? Before this trailer, I didn't even know it was a possibility! Surely we have at least a year and a half before we have to make peace with loved ones and deities, right? This calls for some numerology research.

If you're getting a bit tired of The King's Speech vs. The Social Network talk for best picture (or if you're still furious that Inception doesn't really have a shot), now might be a good time to turn your attention to the Best Cinematography race. At this weekend's American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Achievement Awards, Wally Pfister took top honors for Inception, beating out Roger Deakins for his work on True Grit. If the Oscars follow suit, this would put cinematography veteran Deakins (The Shawshank Redemption, A Beautiful Mind, many Coen Brothers films) at zero wins for nine nominations at the Oscars. After this ASC upset, what are his chances?

If you're like me (and my unmitigated ego can only assume that you are), you have an island-shape hole in your heart where Lost used to live. But just in time for Valentine's Day tomorrow, you can remind yourself of all the wacky Oceanic hijinks with these Lost themed Valentines. There's one for everyone -- Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, even Nikki & Paolo. I would recommend just tossing out the Kate one, though -- nobody likes Kate. Check out my favorite one below and find your favorite at the link. [f*ckyeahlost]
Coming in at a virtual tie, Adam Sandler's latest laugh-free laffer narrowly beat the Biebs for the glory of a first place finish. The margin is so close -- just a couple hundred thousand dollars -- that it may change by the time the final numbers roll in on Monday. Meanwhile, Gnomeo & Juliet came in a surprisingly close number three, while Channing Tatum's S&M historical epic settled for number four. Your weekend receipts are here.

Elizabeth Taylor was admitted yesterday to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of her congestive heart failure. The 78-year-old Academy Award-winner first disclosed her heart condition in 2004. Her spokesperson did not know how long Taylor would be hospitalized for. We wish Dame Taylor a speedy recovery, but this probably puts the kibosh on her announcing the Best Picture at the Oscars this year.[MSNBC]
