Thor actress Jaimie Alexander was sidelined after something on set of the Marvel sequel went wrong, Thor: The Dark World. "Today I sustained a pretty horrible injury," Tweeted the erstwhile superhuman warrioress Lady Sif on Monday. "I'm lucky I'm not paralyzed. Saturday at Comic-Con Robert Downey Jr. and Co. charmed the crowd with glimpses of Iron Man 3, but Marvel Studios had bigger aces up its sleeve, firming up their upcoming slate with announcements and sneak peeks at sequels Captain America: Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World as well as Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. Fitting: It looks like Thor 2 is getting a true Norse villain in Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, who Variety reports is in talks to join the Marvel sequel. With TV veteran Alan Taylor (The Sopranos, Mad Men, Game of Thrones) directing, the film will reportedly begin filming this summer for a November 2013 release. Meanwhile, details on Mikkelsen's character remain unknown, though Tom Hiddleston's Loki is expected to return. So speculate away on which baddie Mikkelsen might play! It was looking iffy there for a while, but Disney chief Robert Iger has confirmed that the record-shattering Marvel blockbuster's follow-up is on the way some time after the next installments of Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, all due between 2013-2014.

Congrats are in order to Patty Jenkins, who was confirmed today as Marvel's pick to helm their 2013 sequel, Thor 2. Jenkins, who directed Charlize Theron to an Oscar in 2003's Monster, her feature directorial debut, inherits the helm of the Thor comic book movie franchise from Kenneth Branagh.
