Please cherish this moment of blue-rare glamor, because I've seen nothing like it in my life: Actor Roddy McDowall's home video collection was released to the public, and in one amazingly decadent vacation reel from 1965, the Planet of the Apes celeb cavorts with some of the biggest movie stars of all time. Is that Judy Garland in sky blue patio-wear? Sure is. Is that a Cat Ballou-era Jane Fonda? Indeed. Is that David O. Selznick, Natalie Wood, Julie Andrews, Paul Newman, Anthony Perkins, Rock Hudson and many, many more? Sigh! Yes! Let's rank the nine most glamorous moments from these soundless clips and fan ourselves for the rest of the day.

"When I open my mouth, what comes out is country. It was going to sound country no matter what, but I didn't want it to be too different," explains singer Blake Shelton of his fresh-scrubbed country version of Kenny Loggin's "Footloose," recorded for Craig Brewer's upcoming remake. "It's music that was rock back then but is country now," he adds, though Deniece Williams, Sammy Hagar, and Shalamar might disagree. Whatever. Give Shelton's version a listen and see if it's worth kicking off your Sunday shoes for. [The Boot via Vulture]
Last week during Movieline's Fall Preview, we repeatedly named Young Adult as one of our most anticipated autumn films. The Jason Reitman/Diablo Cody collaboration stars Charlize Theron as a teen-lit author who returns to her hometown to reclaim her happily married high school crush (Patrick Wilson). And judging by the movie's first poster, that hometown mission does not go so well.

After former Heroes co-star Greg Grunberg, who has an epileptic son, tweeted his outrage over a joke in the recent Tower Heist trailer referring to Ben Stiller as "little seizure boy," director Brett Ratner issued an apology and has reportedly asked Universal to alter the film's marketing. Grunberg tweeted his thanks and lifted "my personal boycott of ur hilarious film." No truth to the rumor Grunberg attempted to leverage his grudge in pursuit of Oscar-hosting duties, though presenting is probably not out of the question. [THR]

Labor Day isn't the only reason to roll out the grill and invite your friends over: The one and only Werner Herzog was born on this day in 1942. The intervening decades would establish him as a leader of the New German Cinema, a dramatic visionary, a relentlessly curious documentarian, the paragon of ecstatic truth, and one of modern movies' most enduringly intriguing filmmakers. Let's wish Herzog a happy 69th birthday with a run through some of his greatest achievements.

Rumors abound today that Eddie Murphy may dig out of his extended rut with an Oscar-hosting stint next February. The Web site that broke the story says it's a done deal, while our sister site Deadline reports that co-producer Brett Ratner has a few hurdles to clear at the Academy (quite possibly including his producing colleague Don Mischer). Among them: Convincingly answering the question, "What on Earth is the upside of Eddie Murphy hosting the Oscars?"

So, Shia LaBeouf directed a music video for Marilyn Manson's "Born Villain." It is so disturbing that Jen Yamato covered her eyes, I shrieked for ten seconds and a Nazi soldier applauded. (All three of those things actually happened, although one happened in the video and the other two happened at Movieline HQ.) So rather than let you watch this Jodorowsky-themed horror video alone, we live-blogged the six-minute spectacle so that we could experience it together. Warning: The 18+ rating is well-deserved.
