Heads Up, NYC: Join Gus Van Sant and Movieline For a Preview of Restless!

To our readers in and around New York City (or at least those who haven't yet fled today for sunnier, holiday-weekend-ier climes): Save the date Sept. 12! That's when I'll be down at 92YTribeca with Gus Van Sant for an advance screening of his new film Restless -- and you are invited!

Starring Henry Hopper and Mia Wasikowska as (respectively) a glum young funeral crasher and the terminally ill cutie with whom he develops a whirlwind love affair, Stephanie Zacharek gave the film an enthusiastic endorsement following its premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival: "The picture (which opens the festival's Un Certain Regard sidebar) is so fluttering and tender, so guileless, that you almost can't believe it was made by an old hand like Van Sant. [...] Do they still make young people like this? I'm not sure. But Van Sant, I think, is wishing they did."

You can ask him yourself on Sept. 12; tickets for the 7 p.m. screening are on sale now. Buy early, buy often, and don't forget to introduce yourself. See you there!
