Believe it or not, there is an entire subset of the American population that does not look forward to snooty award shows like the Oscars because they have more important television obligations -- like Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, the Lifetime docudrama starring Hayden Panetierre that premiered on Monday night. Forget your "powerhouse actors" and "staggering direction," the annoyingly ambivalent Amanda Knox had forgettable performances, a mediocre actor dressed like -- and constantly referred to -- as "Harry Potter" and a few grisly images thrown in for good measure. It looks like Rachel Berry wasn't kidding when she said New Directions needed some original material for Regionals. The next Glee soundtrack will feature two original songs: "Loser Like Me," a pop confection from super-producer Max Martin (Britney Spears, P!nk), and "Get It Right," a Lea Michele-sung ballad. This is decent news for everyone, but bad news for Sixpence None the Richer. Finally, Michael Bay extends an olive branch to fans of the past installments of the Transformers series. While the "announcement trailer" and the Super Bowl spot didn't show a whole lot of the movie, both were slick, well-edited, huge in scope, and also totally coherent. For those who were worried that the series might be taking a new direction, this new ad features the quick cuts between indiscriminate CGI chunks of metal that you know and love. There are also bigger guns! Bigger robots! More Rosie Huntington-Whiteley! And NASCAR Transformers! Here is what's likely your most accurate look yet at Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

A trailer for the upcoming Natalie Portman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rainn Wilson flick Hesher has been making the rounds online, and Levitt and Wilson are none too happy. It appears this new trailer is not in fact from the studio or producers and, according to the stars, completely misrepresents the movie. On the bright side, at least people are talking about the flick that premiered at Sundance over a year ago.

NBA All-Star Weekend took Hollywood by storm in more ways than one, introducing Kobe Bryant as the latest athlete to turn actor. Well, sorta: The Kobe-starring short film The Black Mamba, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is a meta, self-aware bit of Nike product placement that envisions Bryant as a grindhouse-style action hero who must contend with the likes of Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West to defend... a pair of shoes. After the Academy Awards next weekend, Natalie Portman needs a vacation. Girl has been working nonstop, and her upcoming break is well-deserved. This year alone Portman has starred in No Strings Attached and The Other Woman, done nonstop award shows and appearances for Black Swan and she's got the whole pregnancy gig. Oh, and that Thor flick coming up. And NOW there's her film Hesher, which will hopefully hit theaters and is already slated to play South-by-Southwest. She may wind up going Nina Sayers crazy if she don't slow it down.

The rumors are true! After much talk and speculation, it has been confirmed that Baz Luhrmann will be shooting his upcoming remake of The Great Gatsby in 3-D. Filming is set to begin this August in Australia and last for 17 weeks, with the very pretty trio of Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire on board.
