Much of the emotional power of Joel and Ethan Coen's Best Picture contender True Grit comes from the contributions of longtime collaborator and nine-time Oscar nominee Roger Deakins, a cinematographer whose compositions and visual choices lend the Western a subtle, nostalgic quality. It's fitting, then, that when Deakins played My Favorite Scene with Movieline recently, he pointed toward a film that also utilizes the understated to great -- but very different -- effect.

If you read Movieline's recent interview with Nikita's Maggie Q, you'll recall that she rules. She's candid, savvy, and most of all, not afraid to get what she wants. When I asked Ms. Q to identify her favorite film moment of all-time, she also didn't disappoint. The 31-year-old star picked the raunchiest, aurally accurate sex scene I've ever seen. NSFW, to be sure, but click ahead to hear the story behind the action star's favorite moment in cinematic coitus.

Of all the roles that Christian Slater has played in his 30-year career, one of his most beloved remains Clarence Worley, the comic book store clerk who falls for a cute call girl in True Romance. So it is ironic that when Movieline asked the actor -- who stars in Fox's upcoming workplace comedy Breaking In -- to play a round of Movieline's go-to parlor game last week, Slater described the big screen romance that rang truest to him. Hint: There ain't gonna be no re-match for this very special round of My Favorite Scene.

Say what you will about Paris Hilton, but the blond heiress/actress/socialite/entrepreneur arrived promptly for NBC Universal's Television Critics Press tour event on Thursday night in Pasadena, and gamely talked to each and every reporter who requested a word. Like Movieline! Ahead, Paris -- who stars on the new Oxygen series The World According to Paris -- discusses her perceived life as a dumb blonde and her favorite film scene (which, ironically, is from a movie about a dumb blonde).

Here's a very special edition of Movieline's game for cinephiles, "My Favorite Scene." Usually we ask our subjects (like Zach Gilford) simply to name their favorite film scene of all-time, and a reason why. With Lost creator and illustrious film producer J.J. Abrams, though, we learned a bit more than usual. Join us as the Super 8 writer/director names his favorite scene, his favorite set, and the woman whose death almost inspired him to write a play about his childhood.

When filmmaker Edgar Wright returns to Los Angeles this weekend to curate his second guest programming run at the New Beverly Cinema, he's bringing more of his favorite films to share. The first time Wright brought his encyclopedic film knowledge to the local institution back in 2007, his fortnight of cult and genre double features packed the house and kicked off a spate of popular guest programming series by the likes of Eli Roth, Joe Dante and Jason Reitman. Now Wright's back to present over two weeks of double bills including paired screenings of Brazil & Delicatessen (Jan. 16-17), American Graffiti & Animal House (Jan. 20-21), Wild at Heart & True Romance (Jan. 26-27), and more - and it all begins with an already sold-out triple feature of Wright's own Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Jan. 14-15).

We'll have more with the cast of ABC's new medical series Off the Map on Tuesday, but for now, immediately following the show's panel at the TCAs, we grabbed a quick moment with Zach Gilford and played Movieline's favorite parlor game, My Favorite Scene. What did the Friday Night Lights champ say was his favorite film scene ever? Join us for Matt Saracen's full-hearted cinematic moment.

When I asked Somewhere director Sofia Coppola and her two stars Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning to pick their favorite film scenes of all-time, each responded with a clip he/she first watched during early adolescence. Of course, right? Coppola chose an '80s classic, Fanning selected a cinematic hallmark starring her screen idol, and Dorff recalled a scene that intrigued and baffled him when he first saw it on television. Join us as we revisit their favorites (with clips!).

Last week we talked to Dancing with the Stars's dignified emcee, the dependable Tom Bergeron, and quizzed him on Bristol Palin's doubters, arguing with judges, and the fun of live TV. But before we tied up our interview, we asked him to play Moveline's game for cinephiles, My Favorite Scene, and he happily identified his favorite film scene of all-time. As expected, Bergeron's choice was as whimsical and droll as he is. Watch the clip after the jump.

The sixth season of Weeds draws to a close later tonight with easily the best and most shocking episode of the Showtime series in two years. (We'll have more on this one tomorrow.) In anticipation of the game-changing finale event, Movieline dialed brilliant Weeds star Justin Kirk to play a quick round of Movieline's beloved parlor game, "My Favorite Scene."

Contrary to the character he played on Gilmore Girls for seven seasons, Scott Patterson is neither simple, gruff nor a small town diner owner. He is a self-described "tortured" actor/abstract painter/petrified baby frog collector, though, whose answer to beloved parlor game "My Favorite Scene" was so dark and surprising, Movieline decided to save it for Halloween. Can you guess which haunting torture scene The Event actor picked?

While so many other new shows have already come and gone this season (with more perhaps on the way), Fox's sitcom Raising Hope has been a shining beacon of success. Already picked up for a full season and with ratings juggernaut Glee as a lead-in, the Greg Garcia-produced series -- about a single dad raising a child from a one-night stand with the help of his family -- is a television rarity in 2010: a critical success that people actually watch. Actor Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood, The Road, The Assassination of Jesse James), who stars on the show as what could be television's youngest grandfather, called last week to discuss the hit show and play a round of Movieline's My Favorite Scene.

Mark Salling, who plays Glee's once-befohawked football star Noah "Puck" Puckerson, checked in with Movieline to play our favorite game for cinephiles, My Favorite Scene. What did Salling pick as his favorite film moment of all time? Did he copy Christina Hendricks and pick Fame's "Hot Lunch Jam"? Did he ape Sharon Osbourne and pick a moment from Doctor Zhivago? Or did he branch out on his own?

Heather McDonald, the Chelsea Lately comedienne affectionately nicknamed "Long Boobs," spoke with Movieline recently and played our game for cinephiles, "My Favorite Scene." Wouldn't you know it, the saucy panelist chose a moment of deliriously dirty sex.

As a roller coaster careened overhead at the Santa Monica Pier during this week's Fox press tour party, I met up with Glee's brightest star Lea Michele for a lightening round of Movieline mainstay My Favorite Scene. Who would have guessed that her favorite film moment of all time is probably the same one that her Glee character would have chosen?
