This weekend, fans and critics will dissect The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, to evaluate the film's dreamy wedding, nightmare pregnancy and cinematic merit. But what does the actual vampire community think about the latest Stephenie Meyer adaptation that features Robert Pattinson as a hunky bloodsucker, Kristen Stewart as his teen bride and Taylor Lautner as a walking set of abs?
To get answers, Movieline tracked down an Atlanta-based, self-identified vampire named Merticus who --- in spite of his community's near-universal hatred of the tween-targeted franchise -- was willing to shed light on the vampire misconceptions perpetuated in the latest Twilight installment.

I'm clinically unashamed most of the time, but today I come to you with a confession worthy of St. Augustine or at least Diane Keaton: Twilight may be the ultimate Bad Movie We Love. It is surely bad, as it looks and acts like the longest, moodiest Evanescence video of all time, but it's also hard to resist. It's neither pretentious nor overconfident. It's silly. Bella Swan is hot for a shock-white ghoul with darting pupils and a social disorder. Celebrate.

If Guinness World Records recognized fictional successive rites of passage, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 would be the clear victor. As weddings go, yes, there most definitely is one -- possibly two, if you believe Robert Pattinson. Kristen Stewart's Bella finally gets her way during the honeymoon. Then there's the emotion-soaked pregnancy that puts Bella in peril once more, and all the dominoes that are set off for the pair and for Taylor Lautner's Jacob as a result. Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner talked up the first installment of the Twilight finale Thursday ahead of its debut Nov. 18, with a surprise news conference appearance by series author Stephenie Meyer, who shared some tidbits from her stint as producer.

You guys: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is exactly one month away, which means two things: Twi-hards, rest up those vocal chords, and everyone else, stock up on earplugs. Because come November 18, the shrieking will reach a fever pitch across the land. Summit sent out a batch of new images today to stoke the fan fire, which includes looks at the wedding, the happy couple, a dreamy Taylor Lautner glamour shot ("Abduction who? Let's get back to Jacob Black," his smoldering gaze screams), and some serious lumberjack skills.

Every day, thousands of visitors brave the costumed impersonators of Hollywood Blvd. to ogle the foot and handprints of filmdom's greatest celebrities, immortalized in cement in front of the historic Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Come November 3, expect that tourist foot traffic to multiply; that's when Twilight stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner will add their pawprints alongside those of folks like Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, The Marx Brothers, and Judy Garland. If you were one of the curious few who caught Twilight star Taylor Lautner's abysmally-reviewed action star debut, Abduction, then you know how insanely, wonderfully ridiculous it is. Like, Razzie shoo-in, I-can't-believe-I'm-seeing-this-shit awfulsome good times. It's a film with dialogue so inane, Lautner actually asks, "Are you my mother??" And he's serious. I had such a good time "WTF"-ing at Abduction, I compiled all of my screening notes within for your perusal. Needless to say, major spoiler alert!

Twilight idol Taylor Lautner may be new to the action hero game -- well, at least as a young adult, now that his Shark Boy days are long gone -- but he had a seasoned vet by his side on the set of John Singleton's Abduction: Ellen Ripley herself, Sigourney Weaver. As a therapist to Lautner's thrill-seeking teenager, who stumbles into the spy game after discovering the truth about his own childhood, she shows her young co-star how it's done, effortlessly and with grace. But it wasn't Lautner who studied Weaver's body of work for pointers; instead, Weaver admitted, it was she who studied Lautner's work -- his work in the Twilight movies.

It's not just Twilight star Taylor Lautner who has a lot riding on this week's PG-13 action thriller Abduction, in which the erstwhile Jacob Black plays a suave teenager who turns spy-on-the-run after discovering his life has been a lie. Director John Singleton has something to prove with his first directorial effort since Four Brothers, even if he exudes nothing but confidence while discussing the high-octane action pic.

Look, people (that means you too, Twilight Moms): Taylor Lautner is all grown up now, legal and everything at 19 years of age. He's got his first non-Twilight starring role coming up in John Singleton's Abduction, which is also his first young adult bid for action supremacy. So even though he's arguably the most legitimately nice young actor of his generation -- seriously, this kid's poised like a pro -- he's growing up on-screen faster than teen mom Bella Swan. And you know what that means? Steamy love scenes!

Everyone was all smiles Thursday night at the premiere of Abduction, which served as the action hero coming out party for Twilight star Taylor Lautner. Director John Singleton was beaming, co-stars Sigourney Weaver and Lily Collins strolled the red carpet, and hey, look! Tween pop star (and rumored former Lautner galpal) Selena Gomez popped up to lend her support! How sweet. And she brought her current paramour, Justin Bieber! Who looks totally thrilled to be there. Really.

What could Gus 'n' Tay-Tay have been talking about?
