The story of a man named Brady and his irritatingly chipper blended family is as much a part of '70s pop culture as shag rugs and free love, maybe more; neither of those dated phenomena lived on in the popular consciousness as tenaciously, and exhaustively, as The Brady Bunch. The series already enjoyed five seasons, an afterlife in syndication, many lesser spin-offs, and — the true marker of any Hollywood institution — an E! True Hollywood Story. So who really thinks we need another Brady Bunch reboot?

This is pure speculation, but it's St. Patrick's Day weekend! Let's connect the dots: Lionsgate and WWE Studios are teaming up on a reboot of the 1993 pic Leprechaun, the creature comedy-horror which infamously featured a young Jennifer Aniston and kicked off a series of terrible films centered on a murderous Irish fairy hell-bent on recovering his precious gold. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), meanwhile, has a diminutive wrestler named Hornswoggle under contract, whose ring persona is that of a mischievous leprechaun. Pure coincidence, or will Leprechaun mark the next screen debut for a WWE star?

It wasn't tough to spot Channing Tatum or Jonah Hill at the after party following the SXSW premiere of 21 Jump Street; they were the ones, beaming unselfconsciously in the middle of the crowd, wearing bicycle-cop uniforms. More specifically, wearing their costumes from the movie, in which they play a pair of bumbling rookie policemen sent undercover to high school -- a set-up that so delivers beyond its premise that the '80s Johnny Depp TV series adaptation is actually one of the best new films of 2012, comedy or otherwise.

These deals-in-the-making stories always carry a grain of salt since nothing in Hollywood is ever so sure just about until the cameras roll, but the trade scoop that The Killing's Joel Kinnaman may be your next RoboCop is just too tantalizing. Joel Kinnaman who, you may ask, and rightly so? The Swedish-American actor's been in a handful of stateside film projects here and there (including the recent Safe House and, briefly, Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) but the closer I look at his work, the more enticing this casting move becomes.

Speaking with MTV, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed general details on a fourth planned movie in Paramount's Oscar-nominated Transformers series, which will indeed see Michael Bay returning behind the camera. (First, however, he may finally shoot his bodybuilding crime pic Pain & Gain.) Though it's expected we'll see main robot characters like Optimus Prime return, summer of 2014's Transformers 4 -- Trans4mers? Fans of Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch, steel yourself: The guy who last put Denzel Washington on top of a runaway train (and made bank at the box office doing so) wants to remake the groundbreaking 1969 Western. Deadline reports that director Tony Scott -- whose most recent film was last year's Unstoppable -- is negotiating to reboot the classic Peckinpah film. Over at Bleeding Cool, director Rupert Wyatt spitballs about ideas for a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the first-week critical and commercial successes of which seem like good indications that sequels will indeed happen. Wyatt's idea for the next film in his Apes reboot? "Full Metal Jacket with apes." Oh, yes.
Having worked on Christopher Nolan's Batman films and the upcoming Man of Steel for Legendary Pictures, David S. Goyer has been tapped to re-write the company's upcoming Godzilla reboot for Monsters director Gareth Edwards. Presumably that'll put your geek worry to ease about the next studio attempt to revive the kaiju franchise stateside, if only a bit. After all, can any Hollywood take on Godzilla be worse than Roland Emmerich's 1998 misfire?
Yabba-dabba-reboot! Seth McFarlane -- the mad genius behind Family Guy -- has been given the go ahead to bring Hanna-Barbera's The Flintstones back to television in 2013. Deadline reports the deal as having future possible film components as well, so let's just clear the air right now and promise to never forget the abomination that was the 1994 live-action Flintstones movie. The folks at WETA Digital took to the internet Wednesday to unveil an in-depth first look at this August's franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes in a live-stream chat, confirming Charlton Heston's worst fears: Hordes of damn, dirty (and pretty photorealistic) CG apes will definitely be invading the streets of San Francisco this summer. The first Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer will premiere on Apple/iTunes Thursday, no doubt featuring more of the impressive visual effects shared in the preview; hit the jump for the nine most compelling insights, revelations, and concept art peeks revealed by the WETA effects team and star Andy Serkis.
Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) has been announced as the helmer of Relativity Media's planned reboot of The Crow, the 1994 cult film starring Brandon Lee that spawned three subsequent sequels. Fresnadillo, who directed the Oscar-nominated short film Esposados and the 2001 thriller Intacto, will co-script once a writer is signed to the project and aims to begin filming this fall. You know what that means, Crow fans -- time to get your casting caps on!
