Oscar host -- and apparent Skyper -- James Franco might not have the highest opinion of The Social Network, but he has at least acquiesced and signed up for a social network: The Franco is officially on Twitter. "Hi everybody, here I am on Twitter!" he wrote early on Friday afternoon. "This is my FIRST tweet." Ever the overachiever, Franco also included a video link to the site WhoSay.com to welcome his fans to the interactive party. Click ahead to watch.

Glee executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck may be shifting their attention to an FX project called American Horror Story this April, but for now it looks like the pair will be tackling another kind of American horror story on an upcoming episode of their Fox musical series: Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. Exclusive casting details ahead.

· Perhaps this one should be called Pectorals, aimright? Oh, shut up: It's Friday. Fresh into Movieline HQ via Relativity Media come some official stills for Immortals, Tarsem Singh's fall 3-D epic about Greek mythology and six-pack abs. Whoa: Perry Moore, who served as executive producer on the Chronicles of Narnia franchise and authored the benchmark gay teen superhero novel Hero, was found dead Thursday in his New York apartment building. He was 39. Sources say Moore suffered a drug overdose; at least two reports cite OxyContin, adding that no criminality is suspected. Moore was reportedly in the middle of writing a Hero sequel and had begun another young-adult series about superhero triplets. He was discovered by his partner, Hunter Hill, with whom he'd directed the 2008 indie feature Lake City and (with Spike Jonze) a documentary about Maurice Sendak. Quite a loss. RIP. [THR]
It's still early in a long year, and there's always stiff competition, but can any movie publicity photo pack quite the unnerving wallop of Brandon T. Jackson in Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son? Or rather, as it has come to be known at Movieline HQ, Blaxploitation Swan.

Despite objections from Mayor Dave Bing, it looks like artists in Detroit have raised enough money to build the Robocop statue that the city so desperately needs. While Detroit will likely be the first city with an half-robot policeman enshrined for future generations, it isn't the first city to put up a film-inspired statue for all of the public to see. And a Robocop statue may not even be the most ridiculous film tribute ever built. For my money, Scotland will actually hold this honor for years to come.

I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said, "A man in a frock is a box-office lock." Or was that Franklin Roosevelt? I get them confused sometimes. I do know that our current president Barack Obama famously uttered the enduring proverb, "Holy Christ, they made another Big Momma movie? Michelle, hide the girls!" And you don't even want to know what he said about the rest of the President's Day weekend's multiplex line-up. Let's break it down as quickly and painlessly as possible:

Good news first: MGM must have read Moveline's list of films that can never be remade! Whew! But now for the bad news: We forgot to include Robocop and Poltergeist, and now reboots/sequels for these classics are on MGM's post-bankruptcy list of projects in development. They would also like to remake Mr. Mom and Taylor Hackford's The Idolmaker. But hey, at least they've got one original project in the pipeline...Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. In 3-D. Other news: I'm going back to bed. [Variety]
· Yep, another movie about bridesmaids, but not as awesome: Here are Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and John Krasinski in the trailer for the man-stealy wedding comedy Something Borrowed. [Cinema Blend]

Can we all agree that the Thor marketing materials thus far have been a little less than thrilling? Good. Because now we really have something to look forward to from the Kenneth Branagh-directed Marvel actioner -- an epic-scale tent pole set on two worlds with a sense of humor about itself, lots of swirling, hammer-smashing action, fantastical villains and creatures to ogle, and the acknowledged fetishizing of Chris Hemsworth's abs.

Perhaps in response to all those people left stymied by Hereafter's Oscar nomination for visual effects (especially when Tron: Legacy got shut out of the category, poor thing), Warner Bros. have released a shot-by-shot reel showing how VFX supervisor Michael Owens and Scanline VFX put together that nine-minute opening tsunami sequence. And when you see how the live-action parts came together combining CG, green screen, water tanks, and on-location photography -- well, "Oscar-nominated Hereafter" doesn't sound so silly anymore.

Everyone's favorite Oscar-snubbee Mila Kunis is reportedly set to join Sam Raimi's Oz, the Great and Powerful, the lonnnnng-gestating Wizard of Oz prequel with James Franco attached as the title character. Kunis would play Evanorah, the young witch-in-training who develops into the Wicked Witch of the East. Of course. Shooting is rumored to begin in July, but I think we all know Raimi's protracted dawdling really portends an awesome Oz/Sex and the City 3 Memorial Day showdown in 2016. Or something. [Vulture]
Writer-director Shane Black is reportedly in negotiations to direct Iron Man 3, taking over from series helmer Jon Favreau for the threequel, which is already slated for release on May 3, 2013. But hey, no pressure! Two years should be plenty of time for the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon in six weeks. Besides, Black's got plenty of qualifications that should inspire fanboy confidence. Such as:
