POLL: Would You See A Snow White And The Huntsman Sequel That Didn't Star Kristen Stewart?

Snow White and the Huntsman - Kristen Stewart - Poll

With Deadline reporting that Universal Pictures is denying a Hollywood Reporter  story that Kristen Stewart has been deep-sixed from the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, and the Twitter-verse buzzing over the news, we here at Movieline figure it's a good time to ask our readers to weigh in on this debate.

As Deadline points out, SWATH's near $400 million worldwide box-office gross makes it an eligible vehicle for a sequel, and, internally, Universal is discussing whether to focus the next movie on the Huntsman character played by Chris Hemsworth, who is fast proving himself to be leading-man material.  According to our sister site, the Hollywood Reporter "used all this as a referendum to stamp out the participation of Stewart, because of recent events, which seemed a bit harsh and unfair, particularly since nary a word of the sequel or spinoff has yet been written." (There's also the bit of news that Universal has bought a crime drama called 90 Church: The True Story of the Narcotics Squad from Hell for Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.)

So, now we're dying to ask you: Would you see SWATH 2 without Kristen Stewart? Check out the poll below and vote. It'll be good practice for November.

@movieline, how can you say ppl are divided when 76% want her in it?

    • Jen Yamato says:

Sam: First few Tweet responses were divided, which is what we were referring to. Now the votes are flooding in! Will update Tweet with later results.

  • twk22 says:

Not only NO but HELL NO!!!!

  • Corn says:

    I don't care either way.

  • sali says:

NO thank you i want kristen

  • Noof says:

I saw SWATH cause Of Kristen. And that's one of reason why it's done well in B/O. No Kristen in Snow White 2 NOT going to watch it.and I'm sure her fans won't watch it too

  • Quirky- says:

Well, I'm avoiding the first one because of her presence, so yeah, it's an attractive proposition for me.

    • Erin says:

Agreed. I'm almost surprised that wasn't an option on the poll. Her not being in the sequel would exponentially increase the liklihood of me seeing it.

  • Megan says:

I had no interest in seeing the first movie that had her in it, and I have no interest in seeing a sequel without her in it. Why wasn't that an option?

  • MaryAnn says:

I didn't vote because you didn't list my choice. If they made the movie without her, I would go, but I wouldn't be happy about her being missing.

  • Jake says:

What about a fourth choice... No sequel at all.

    • Frank DiGiacomo says:

Interesting. Why not? The box office from the first film tells Universal that a sequel is merited.

      • Jake says:

It's actually on the bubble (which I believe the deadline article indicated as well). It's in the same territory as Tron (which also grossed 400 million domestic and international) and the studios were initially going to do a sequel on that and then they decided against it. They also had similar budgets. So given that, I think no sequel is a valid option.

Also, this wasn't exactly a film that screamed "sequel" like say, The Matrix, or even Tron (which at least has an interesting world to explore as opposed to SWATH, which was basically an ambiguous and nameless fairy tale world). It just didn't really feel like the start of anything.

And let's face it, until this scandal broke, no one really cared about this movie that much. Critics and audiences were both like, "meh" on it. But now that director and leading lady were getting steamy, people are intrigued. But that didn't make SWATH a better film. Just my two cents.

  • Jace says:

Even with or without Kristen Stewart, a movie WITHOUT Snow White and only the Huntsmen is ridiculous. Who cares about the Huntsmen? Even in the Snow White pecking order he would be last or even unknown as follows: Snow White > Dwarves > Evil Queen > Prince Charming > Magic Mirror > Steve the Plumber > Huntsmen. It's a story about Snow White through and through, nothing less.

  • Summer says:

I watched SWATH despite Kristen and her special brand of non-acting. Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth are what brought me to the theatre to watch it, to be honest.

  • Morgan says:

there's no show without Charlize, probably wouldnt watch snow white, definitely not interested in the huntsman

  • Sarah says:

I'm not really invested in this either way, but I find it interesting and unfair that they'd cut her out so quickly yet seem to have no problem doing business with him-the cheating married father of 2? I know it has to do with public image or whatever but yikes.

    • Jen Yamato says:

"I find it interesting and unfair that they'd cut her out so quickly yet seem to have no problem doing business with him"

      Word to this.

  • Tpain says:

I have Tons of movies without her, and I will continue to see tons of movies without her... give me a good story, and good acting over a specific person any day of the week.

  • Mel says:

I want a pole for how many people want Rupert out. I bet you get 100% of people say kick him to the curb.

  • santos says:

I watched SWATH 3 times only because of Kristen. I am a brazilian Kristen fan and she has lots of loyal brazilian fans.

  • linda says:

I am on ( == BlackWhitePlanet– c 0 /m. ==), met many good guys and beauties, they also want to find true love. Now I have found my l’ove , so I recommend it to you, I hope everyone can find their best l’ove.Goodluck.The box office from the first film tells Universal that a sequel is merited.

i never saw SWATH, and not because i do not fancy, KS, but because i had no one to go with, but i said i'll see it on DVD, to be honest, i am not a fan, but she did make a great snow white, now ppl be honest, SW is an english movie right, not the men, but how do you think females will react to K on the movie set, seeing that liberty is rupert's wife, now ladies be honest, if rupert was you husband/bf, would you think different, i'm sure CH'S wife ad some choice words to him, kristen is a very sex female, to things i was pissed about, in fact three, 1, why didn't she breakup with rob before, did she want to have her cake and eat it too? 2 this thing happen on the 17th, so until USweekly called her, and give her 24 hrs to notify who ever, she was fooling rob, Wow! and why a married man, after you befriended his wife, as a female how do you thinking liberty is feeling, you think kristen can ever look liberty in the face? we are all females, i think, but come one, now rupert is a scum of the earth, i still believe liberty will divorce him!

  • jess says:

meh, probably the same kstew fanatics voting like 12897429075 times. this doesn't mean anything.

  • Lina Kristen says:

we will never ever watch snow white without kristen !!! she was the only reason that we watched the movie in the first place

  • Lon says:

No kristen,no sw for me.her personal life has no bearing on her professional life.

  • Dee says:

No swath 2 for me if Kristen is out as principal character. And this time, please spend enough time on a GOOD SCTIPT and get another director who is overall a good one and not just on visuals. sequel 1 would have been a lot better filmwise and also at the B.O. if Universal had their shit together before filming this. Kristen's skills were under utilized because the script sucked. Lesson to be learned for the producers and Uniiversal.

  • J. Karamour says:

I just want to add that, I would not see a sequel if Kstew was in it or not, the first movie was garbage

  • kstewfan says:

Not seeing it if Kristen is not in it and there are no Two ways about it

  • kstewfan says:

I like that there are so many loyal Stewart fans here
