Fifty Shades of Grey: Bret Easton Ellis Dream Casts Ryan Gosling, Lena Dunham
American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis made clear via Twitter who he'd pick as potential leads in Fifty Shades of Grey, the best-selling erotic drama by E. L. James that he claims he's hoping to adapt for the big screen. If it ever comes to pass, Ryan Gosling and Girls creator/actress Lena Dunham are clear favorites — or so he insists. What would rumored potential director Angelina Jolie say?
Reporting on Ellis' Tweets — which should be taken with a sizable grain of salt, obviously — Orange UK noted that the Less Than Zero author speculated that Scarlett Johansson or Kristen Stewart would be the likely victors to play the novel's Ana opposite a theoretical Gosling as Christian Grey. "I would love it if we lived in a world where [Girls actress] Lena Dunham could be Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey but I don't think we do," Ellis wrote. "Hope E.L. James doesn't think I'm being a prankster. I really want to adapt her novels for the screen. Christian Grey is a writer's dream…" The novel's Christian Grey is a wealthy man tormented by demons and a need for control who begins a BDSM affair with college grad, Ana.
Ellis has additional thoughts on a director too, should the Jolie thing not work out — or is just an elaborate rumor — or both: "I think David Cronenberg is a great idea for directing Fifty Shades of Grey and we worked together on American Psycho in its initial phase."
He gave a shout out to his supporters and a nudge to the powers that, well.. "BEE": "Thanks to everyone supporting BEE adapting Fifty Shades of Grey: the response has been huge and amazing. Hope E.L. James feels the same way."

Ryan Gosling is Christian Grey..he physically fits the part and definitely has the range to play the many sides of Christian..and for Ana I think Lucy Hale...

Anyone saying Ryan Gosling is not hot enough please watch crazy stupid love...and you need to see him in drive...he definitely plays the mysterious dark side..yet has the overprotective side...he also is not opposed to steamy movies...blue Valentine was rated NC-17 😉 and the man can actually act! Some of these names being thrown around just don't have the acting chops to make this film believable..
While Ryan Gosling is talented, Ian Somerhalder has 'the look' of Cbristian Grey... mysterious, gentle yet brooding, sexy yet sweet, professional yet boy-like, exterior confidence yet internal struggle... and Ian hasn't been plastered all over the airwaves... still has a bit of mystery in that he still has some tricks up his sleeve as an actor that we haven't seen yet. I think Ian can attract or lure all of the 50 Shades of Grey readers (older as well as yoinger) into his role.
Sam Page would b just perfect! playing as a wealthy businessman who sleeps with a different girl every night in gossip girl is actually a bit close to being christian... he's got this intimidating but seductive look in his eyes
Ian Somberhalder is the best man to play Christian Grey cus he is very sexual and has a dark side, dominating and but at times is very sweet and caring. In Vampire Diaries he is amazing in the sex scenes and fucks hard!!!
Ryan Gosling is a pretty boy bur Ian Somberhalder isn't and he definitely has 50 shades of grey in him that I know wont disappoint us. He will pleasure every women in the world.
Amanda Shull should play Ana, she is gorgeous and i think she could fit the part and i think Chris Hemsworth would be a good Christian!!
I know people don't want to hear this but the books were based on Edward/Rob and Bella/Kristen. Remember the ages 22 and 27. Its going to be difficult, but it can be done. Do you do one movie or three! It will be interesting to follow how this all pans out. Looking forward to see how long for the actors to be selected and how long for the movie.
Why cant they come up with some fresh faces. Besides Ryan Gosling is not charismatic or good looking enough to play Christian...and seriously Scarlet Johansson??? Too used up..and forget the neck biting woman what a broodish looking thing. Get creative, new!! These are enormous characters...
Ok Ian is very attractive but his look isn't versatile..I can't see him portraying the vulnerable side of Christian...his look is too intense....can't see the boyish charm and smile in him..and he has a smaller frame.. Christian is tall with a muscular frame and copper hair...Ryan Gosling wouldn't have to change his look at all....
The person I saw in my head when I was reading the books are Jude law for Christian and kiera knightley for Anna.
A big fat NO on Ryan hes to much of a pretty boy. I don't see him as Christian Grey at all. Only two people I would say yes to are either Alex Petyferr because he played that cocky, rich boy in beastly then turned all hearts and flowers for the girl and he's young has blonde hair and sexy. 2nd person I would say is Ian Somerhalden because he got his sudductive eyes and I get my way with you look.. And for the girl nooo Kristen Stewart shes twilight known get new and creative and sexy and hot us women want this!
Alexander skarsgard would be the perfect christian grey and lucy hale would make a good anastasia steele as well.

Ian Somerhalder has this sunny, cheerful look in his eyes plus he only looks attractive in the vampire diaries because there's no better-looking guy for comparison there

His coloring is different, black hair and blue eyes, but I think Matt Bomer, currently in Magic Mike and White Collar, would be the best Grey.
