Larry King Files for Devastating Eighth Divorce

76-year-old love bandit Larry King just filed for divorce from his wife Shawn Southwick, who he married in 1997. The couple had two sons together, but this makes eight divorces for King. Suspender your disbelief. The filing lists "irreconcilable differences," but I imagine the romance stagnated; this is a guy who'll marry anyone who lifts up her skirt and lets him yell, "Hello, Tuscaloosa!" UPDATE: Per TMZ, sources allege infidelity: Southwick "is accusing Larry of having an affair with one of her close relatives." [TMZ]

Controversial Shrek Fashion Shoot Replaces Dated Pop Culture References with Naked Models

So this happened! Perhaps you've heard of the magazine VMan, an arty, marketed-to-men version of the fashion bible V? As far as avant-garde American periodicals go, it's a good one -- or at least it used to be, when it would give up dozens of pages to James Franco and his collaborator Carter to use as an art project. Lately, VMan has been trending in a weird direction (a signed Nick Jonas cover, really?) and it's all come to a head with this bizarre Shrek Forever After photoshoot.

Iron Man 2: A Rocky III Rip-Off?

Nothing is more fascinating than a vast rip-off conspiracy, which is definitely the way to classify the marvelous parallels drawn today between Iron Man 2 and Rocky III. Successful, wealthy men gone complacent? Check. Formidable, blind-siding enemies? Check? Good-vs.-evil preparation montages? Check, right down to the villain's solitude. And so on. If it weren't for the key difference that Talia Shire did all her own stunts, someone might have a lawsuit on their hands. [Moviefone]

Who Should Play Suzy Kolber in Forthcoming Joe Namath Biopic?

Word on the street is that James Mangold is in talks to direct a biopic about the legendary New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath. While there appears to be no script as of yet, the film would no doubt cover all the crucial milestones of Namath's life, from leading his team's heroic upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III to shilling for Hanes BeautyMist pantyhose to his stunning, drunken on-air flirtation with ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber in 2003. The high-profile project will make for one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood, for which every agent in Hollywood will have only one question for the filmmakers: "Who's playing Kolber?"

Is Seth Rogen's Green Hornet the Next Batman and Robin?

Remember when you heard about Seth Rogen's plan to co-write and star in The Green Hornet and thought, "Man, that's a terrible idea!" Then when the project added Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz, you wondered aloud, "What kind of fever dream is this thing going to be?" And, of course, you got the answer when Michel Gondry took over the reigns from chopsocky director Stephen Chow: The Green Hornet was one gloriously hot mess. And now that the film is in the can, it looks like even its backers at Sony might agree.

Next on the 3-D Bandwagon: Werner Herzog

Werner Herzog will reportedly join Martin Scorsese in the race to become the first internationally recognized auteur to adopt 3-D. More jaw-dropping still: The Bavarian master/raconteur/adventurer will use the technology on a documentary about cave paintings. "I can have only three people with me, and I can use only lights which must not create temperature," Herzog said of the filming process. "For each shot, because the technology is not really advanced, we had to build [our] own camera from zero using a specific configuration of lenses and mirrors. We are doing something nobody has done with 3-D." Sounds great! Not so great: The odds of finding an art-house theater that can project it. [Roger Ebert via The Guardian]

[Variety]

Which Joss Whedon Characters Resemble Members of The Avengers?

The more I mull it over, the more Joss Whedon makes sense as the director of Marvel's high-profile feature film adaptation of The Avengers. His time in the director's chair isn't extensive, but neither was Jon Favreau's before helming Iron Man, and Whedon's got plenty more geek cred and comic book experience than Favreau ever did. In fact, once you start to really examine Whedon's television work, you might see that his characters aren't so dissimilar from the superheroes who will be populating The Avengers. Let's take a look at who resembles who:

Now, though, the original six-season HBO series will venture past even stranger borders, setting up camp at the Seacrest-friendly E! and Style Networks. If you're concerned that E! won't follow TBS's lead and play multiple episodes alongside showings of Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, don't worry: TBS still retains the show for awhile. E! won't start airing the series until July 2012. [Variety]

Joss Whedon Tops Louis Letterier for Avengers Gig

It had been rumored for a little while, and now it looks like Joss Whedon is in negotiations to direct Marvel's all-star team-up The Avengers. (You may remember Clash of the Titans helmer Louis Letterier was also on that shortlist.) The Buffy the Vampire Slayer just wrapped his last gig, directing an episode of Glee; this will surely prove invaluable when Iron Man leads his fellow heroes in a rousing, Auto-Tuned group-sing of JoJo's "Too Little Too Late."
