Her novels have sold 40 million copies worldwide and the pending film version of the trilogy's first installment has fans guessing worldwide who will play the male lead with nearly every hot young actor in Hollywood a possible contender. So what is a wildly successful author to do as an encore? Well, be in the movie of course! British author E.L. James, the mind behind the ever-so-hot Fifty Shades of Grey series said on the Katie Couric daytime talk show that she is eyeing a possible cameo in the big-screen adaptation of the novel, revealing that one of the smaller characters in the book is actually based on herself.

You've heard of the erotic bestseller 50 Shades of Grey. You may have even read a steamy passage or two here and there. But why torture yourself by actually reading E.L. James' florid-melodramatic prose when one animated fan trailer gives you all the essential need-to-knows — including the best-worst cringe-inducing scene of the book?

While visiting Ryan Seacrest's show, The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder revealed that he might be "potentially" up for the role of gazillionaire playboy/closet BDSM freak Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of E. L. James' breathless erotica 50 Shades of Grey. To which I say: Yes. I'll allow it. That said, Somerhalder was choosing his words so carefully it's hard to tell exactly how far in the casting process he might be, so take it with a grain of salt. Oh, and enjoy the mental image of Ryan Seacrest listening to the squirmier parts of the 50 Shades audiobook at the valet stand.
