The Curious Case of the Dragon Tattoo Red-Band Trailer 'Leak' (In Stereo) [UPDATED]

So it's Saturday afternoon on Memorial Day Weekend, and all's quiet on the movie news front. Suddenly, a full five days before it's scheduled to debut online, a red-band teaser trailer for David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo makes its way to YouTube. It's handheld, reportedly grabbed off the screen ahead of a Hangover Part II screening, according to Sony. There's nothing we can do with it, because studios have rules against disseminating pirated, leaked or otherwise unauthorized material, and it's easier to observe them than to have an angry publicist blowing up your inbox or phone. But what if the studio is doing the leaking?

Colin Farrell is One Creepy Neighbor in New Clip from Fright Night

Rachel Weisz Tries to Stop Sex Slavery (Without Ashton Kutcher) in The Whistleblower Trailer

Last year at this time, a low quality trailer for the Rachel Weisz thriller The Whistleblower found its way online. Since then, the film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was picked up for distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films, who have finally released the official trailer. Based on the true story of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska police officer who ends up uncovering child sex slavery and human-trafficking in post-war Bosnia, the thriller co-stars Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn and Monica Bellucci. Anti-sex slavery PSA impresario Ashton Kutcher, you're going to want to pre-order tickets for this one.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen Try to Make Cancer Funny in 50/50 Trailer

Some of you may have been skeptical when you heard that Seth Rogen was following up The Green Hornet and Paul with a cancer project. Maybe the first trailer for 50/50 will change your mind, however. About a young man diagnosed with cancer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), 50/50 is based on the real-life experiences of screenwriter (and Rogen's friend) Will Reiser. Lindsay Lohan may be under house arrest as of Thursday, but the troubled starlet is still able to make her art house debut via a new 90-second film by renowned painter Richard Phillips. The project, straightforwardly titled "Lindsay Lohan," was shot last month in Malibu and will play the first week of June in New York City's Gagosian Gallery.
