REVIEW: The Apparition Cribs From Horror Classics, Is Still A Frightful Mess

Like the Paranormal Activity films and their cinematic ancestor PoltergeistThe Apparition takes place in what may be the least naturally atmospheric setting out there — suburban California. There's something welcomingly off-kilter about dropping a supernatural tale in a location so inherently mundane. It's straightforward enough to spin scares out of creaky mansions in remote areas, cavernously empty hotels and abandoned asylums, but sunny tract housing doesn't naturally lend itself to spookiness, which makes it all the more immediate and unsettling when a movie manages to make such a thing work.

We can all agree that Lindsay Lohan is in dire need of a comeback, and this might just do it -- well, it'll certainly help: Deadline reports that the 25-year-old starlet is in talks to play screen icon Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's biographical romance Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. The pic will chronicle the legendary relationship between Taylor and Richard Burton; no word yet on who'll play Dick to Lohan's Liz, which means it's a perfect time to play a round of Fantasy Casting!

Sebastian Stan Steps Up as Captain America's Sidekick and Hints at Bucky's Future

After auditioning "five or six times" for the role of Steve Rogers, a/k/a Captain America, 27 year-old Sebastian Stan didn't get the gig. But he did get a call to discuss a different iconic character in the WWII-set Marvel comics blockbuster: James "Bucky" Barnes, Cap's best friend, sidekick, and, in Joe Johnston's big screen adaptation (in theaters Friday), a soldier who could potentially undergo big changes in future Captain America sequels.
