Pirates of the Caribbean 4, the most unnecessary sequel until next weekend, sailed into the box office harbor last night but was only able to make off with a rather disappointing $35 million. And while most people would love to be disappointed by $35 million, this latest money-grab adventure from Jack Sparrow is on track to earn significantly less than the $115 opening weekend that the third Pirates iteration enjoyed. But hey! Bridesmaid is doing swell! Your Friday box office is here.

It was a super second weekend for Thor as it held on to the top spot and declined a relatively slim -47% (contrast that with the -62% tumble that Fast Five took on its second weekend). But the good news wasn't confined to first, as the poopin' dames of Bridesmaids notched a strong debut at second place. But pity the clergy as Priest could only muster a fourth place bow. It was another happy Friday in the halls as Asgard (especially for Frigg) as Thor stayed at number one with a (relatively) slim decline from its blockbuster first weekend. The fartin' ladies of Bridesmaids notched a strong debut at second place while the vamps of Priest could only scare up a fourth place start. Your Friday box office is here.

It was a weekend for the gods as Thor had a divine debut at number one, kicking off the summer of super heroes to a solid start. The vroom-vroom-smash of Fast Five took a steep plunge to number two while Jumping the Broom had a surprisingly strong showing at number three. Which meant that the widely-reviled Something Borrowed(more like Something Blew, amirite, dudes??) could only manage fourth place. Your weekend receipts are here.

The sound you just heard was a hundred and one Marvel Studios execs exhale in relief all at once as Thor, the superhero movie that seemed the most likely to crash and burn, raked in more than $25 million its opening night, priming itself up for one thuper weekend. Elsewhere, the dudebros of Fast Five were bumped to number two, the ladygals of Something Borrowed came in at third place, and Jumping the Broom had a strong start at number four. Your Friday box office is here.

One last little bit of housecleaning from the weekend box office: There's good news and there's bad news about Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, the live-action, Brandon Routh-starring adaptation of the cult comic book. First, the good news: The supernatural gumshoe flick did modestly well in Italy, where its source material originated. According to the most recent available figures, it earned $3.4 million in the month after opening March 16. (By comparison, Scream 4 was down 52 percent in its second week in Italy and hasn't yet cracked $1.5 million.) Then there's the bad news.

Yowza. Fast Five exceeded all projections this weekend with a stunning $83.6 million opening -- the best ever for a Universal release, and a nearly 18 percent jump over the debut haul of its 2009 predecessor Fast and Furious. Its competition, meanwhile -- including a pair of new, badly underperforming family films -- was left behind like so much roadkill. Your weekend receipts are here.

If you had any doubt that the franchise that spawned this weekend's Fast Five remains as relevant as ever, maybe Friday's eye-popping $34 million windfall will change your mind. The muscle-car opus is on track for a three-day total of $80 million, leaving fellow newbies Prom and Hoodwinked Too and the incumbent champ Rio choking on its exhaust. Your Friday Box Office is here.

The brightly-plumaged birds of paradise edged out the mad black woman as Rio took the top spot again, with Madea's Big Happy Family following close behind at number two. The olde-timey circus of R. Pattz and Reese Witherspoon's Water For Elephants pulled into number three while the wild tabbies of African Cats settled into sixth place. Your weekend receipts are here.

The high-flying birds of Rio stayed aloft in first place again, winning the Friday night box office crow, while Madea's Family managed a rather soft second place opening night. The animal family of Water For Elephants notched a third place opening while the awwwww.... so cute! kitties of African Cats strode in at fifth place. Your Friday box office is here.

For the third week in a row, chatty cartoon animals ruled the box office as the birds of Rio took the top spot with a blockbuster $40 million opening. Coming in a distant second place was the 90s nostalgia curio, Scream 4, which netted a horrifying $19 million; you'll recall that Scream 3 had a $34 million opening weekend and that was back when ticket prices were lower and this all used to be orange groves. And speaking of wayback when, Robert Redford's The Conspirator opened in ninth place; sorry James McAvoy! I still love you, boo!. Your weekend receipts are here.

The birds of paradise enjoyed a view from the top as Rio debuted Friday night at number one, leaving the teens of Scream 4 in second place. Elsewhere in the top five, the pattern repeated, with horror movie Insidious staying strong in third place and the chatty animated animals of Hop in fourth. Your Friday box office is here.

The Bunny reigned supreme again as Hop grabbed the top spot for a second weekend, but at the expense of Russell Brand's other comedy, Arthur, which could only muster a distant second place finish. In fact, when final number come rolling in tomorrow, it may be beaten out by Hanna, which notched a very close third place, followed by inspirational stump film Soul Surfer. And poor Your Highness came in at 6th, proving perhaps that a little Danny McBride goes a long way. Your weekend receipts are here.

Shades of Jude Law! Audiences this Friday had their choice of unfunny Russell Brand comedies this weekend, but the bulk of them chose to stay with last weekend's champ, Hop, pushing Arthur to the number two slot. The strong, independent ladies of Hanna and Soul Surfer came in at four and five, respectively, while the dungeons 'n stoners comedy Your Highness got no higher than number five. Your Friday box office is here.

Despite the star pedigree of Jake Gyllenhaal and the geek cred of director Duncan Jones, sci-fi thriller Source Code was topped by an animated bunny learning the new true meaning of Christmas Easter. At third place was the haunted house scare-em-up Insidious, possibly launching another profitable franchise for the brains behind Saw. Plus, the hotly debated Sucker Punch fell an astronomical 68.1% from last week -- if those number hold, it means it held up slightly better in its second weekend than Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li (-68.5%) but not as well as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (-67.9%).
