Harry Potter Shocker: JK Rowling Says Lupin Is An Ex-Gay

Well, they've still got Dumbledore, at least. In a cast interview at the Apple Store in SoHo, David Thewlis revealed that JK Rowling told him that Professor Lupin was gay in The Prisoner of Azkaban but changed over the years and fell in love with Tonks. I cringe at what hay homophobes will make of this, but I figure stranger things happen in the Potterverse. If he changed into a werewolf, why can't he also change into a breast man? I look forward to the next Rowling outing where she reveals that Neville is actually an insatiable pass-around party bottom. [@SnitchSeeker]

    1) She is not American.
    2) This isn't a rags to riches story. Rowling quit her job and went on welfare by CHOICE to actually have the time to work on the first Potter book. The rags to riches tale is something the American publishers cooked up/overplayed.

    Erm... You mean Remus/Sirius, right?
Sorry to point it out :/
And I like the pairing too 😀

    • DarthVader says:

      ew, where'd you hear that?

    • ,,,,And this is why Wolfstar (Remus/Sirius) is cannon!! 😀
Don't apologize for pointing it out, dear. MANY of us wanted to!

I know, right! I am a hardcore wolfstar shipper and to this day, I can't believe Jo put him with Tonks! Don't get me wrong - I love and respect Jo to death, but honestly, I don't think Tonks was right for him at all. That's why Tonks really annoys me and don't even get me started about Teddy Lupin. Jo said Remus was gay until he met Tonks, yet she said on her pottermore or whatever that was that he was never in love before he met Tonks. That doesn't make sense. If he was gay than he obviously did have at least crushes on guys. He would have been so much better with Sirius! It makes so sad he apparently never got with him 🙁

  • Emma says:

you obviously can't become straight, that's bullshit. He could realize that he's attracted to more than one sex (Bisexual) or more likely jk rowling just changed her mind about making him gay. (In my mind he's still bisexual)

    • Anon says:

Maybe he thought he was gay but realised that's not who he is. If that's the case, he technically wasn't gay in the first place, however he thought he was.

    • Elle says:

Bisexuals exist. There's actually a lot of us out there, but in most cases if you can pass for straight, you do. It's just easier that way.

  • lupin says:

Direct quote from JKR, please? This is pretty ignorant; you can't be 'ex-gay'.

This entire piece is based on a single tweet that was deleted for a reason. Here (http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/audio-harry-potter-cast-at-apple-store-soho-deathly-hallows-panel-discussion-80606/) is the actual report from the event, at which Thewlis actually said he'd initially played Lupin as gay based on Alfonso Cuaron's interpretation ("without JKR's knowledge"), then later had to readjust when Lupin's relationship with Tonks came to light.
