The Bonnie Hunt Show Finally Canceled, A Nation Mourns
Order up a deep dish pizza and draw yourself a bath. You'll need some comfort after this news: PerezHilton is reporting that after two long seasons, The Bonnie Hunt Show has been canceled. The Chicago comedienne's afternoon talk show premiered in 2008 with Robin Williams as her first guest. Since then, Bonnie Hunt was nominated for three Daytime Emmys including Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling.
The show, which tapes in Culver City, will finish out its second season before shutting down production, according to PerezHilton's sources. The Bonnie Hunt Show features a two-story, Dean Martin-tribute set featuring photos of her dog and a fireman's pole. According to Wikipedia, Bonnie has never used the fireman's pole -- hopefully viewers can look forward to that inaugural ride during her teary finale.
For those unfamiliar with the format of the Bonnie Hunt show, each episode starts with a monologue and features segments in which the Jerry Maguire co-star answers viewer mail ("Mail From You Guys"), improvises with the audience and her producer Don Lake ("Dr. Know It All"), and asks children about topics that predate them ("Young People Don't Know Nothin"). Bonnie frequently welcomes her mother, Alice, on the show via video chat and is particularly interested in hearing about her guest's mothers, especially if they are nurses.
Let's take a moment on this gloomy, Monday afternoon to toast Bonnie and her mom with this famous "Ask Alice" segment. All of the excitement of talking your mom through a video chat, except it's someone else's mom, and it's on daytime TV! (And Emmy voters, please consider her impeccable hairstyling!)

Oh man. The Bonnie Hunt Show. Hmm. Let me just say that I found Bonnie Hunt uniquely annoying before she had an hour a day in which to be the daytime Jay Leno. Now Bonnie knows a truth Tempestt Bledsoe, Leeza, Tony Danza, Wayne Brady and Roseanne know all too well: leave daytime to the soap hunks.
I have to admit I love Bonnie's mom Alice but couldn't stand Bonnie.
Her interviewing style was that everyone is great and wonderful etc etc, essentially kissing butt with everyone.
An ass-kissing talk show host? The hell you say!
Good Ridance
I just have to say that I think your comment is just great and wonderful! Really fantastic! How's your mom?
I really enjoyed the Bonnie Hunt Show. Sorry to hear that the show is cancelled. The whole family could watch her show and you wouldn't have to worry about what might happen on the show. Bonnie Hunt, you will be missed!!
...if she had only done Chola make overs...
I find her oddly hot. Does that make me wrong?
If humping Bonnie Hunt is wrong I don't wanna be right....
Bonnie Hunt is unique and so is her show. She has so much substance and a unique sense of humor. The woman has talent and a great personality. She's a breath of fresh air, totally relatable and down to earth.I really wish they can bring her back somehow.Love you Bonnie!
She does have lovely hair.
I will miss Bonnie Hunt, she was unique, honest and original. She was a genuine person who often teared up, showing her empathy with others. She is so Chicago, her roots...bring her to Chicago, we will appreciate her.
She is the female Johnny Carson. No snark intended...
I am going to truly miss Bonnie. Her show is a breath of fresh air, all the other talk shows are the same. NOT Bonnie, she has a great sense of humor and brings that out in all of her guests! Even when she had to talk about some touchy subjects she brought a light to it and made it easier for everyone. I will miss her very much!! Is it possible to get her back? Another network maybe?
Carl Reiner's right, what can we do to save this show?
Why can't television leave anything that is good on? I'm so sick of all the trash on TV, cable & satellite. I think TV will soon become a thing of the past. It had a good run, bad they had to ruin it. Just like America; it had a good run, but..........
Please keep The Bonnie Hunt Show on the air. It is a great show that we all can watch and feel better after it is over. I have all my co workers PVR or TIVO it, we watch when we get home and talk about it the next day. You need to think about it!!!!!
Great show, I really enjoyed it. Bonnie has a great since of humor and so sincere with her guests. Is it possible to keep her show on the air? What can we do?
The execs at NBC are the stupidest asses that ever exsisted. Tell them to turn NBC over to CBS,ABC,or FOX. Before they screw everything else up. Please pass this on to them even though they can't read or comprehend anything.
Shame on NBC and Warner Bros. This show's a victim of poor PR. If people watch it once, they're hooked, but no one knows about it. I love her show! It's funny and clever without resorting to snarkiness to get a laugh, which is refreshing these days. I have it on while I work, as a matter of fact, it's on right now.
I LOVE the Bonnie Hunt Show, please don't cancel it!!! Bonnie is a treasure, she is so sweet and just an all around good person who is nice to everyone, loves animals and family! She has the best talk show on TV and will be missed. Please NBC/FOX get your head out of your ass and realize you are doing the wrong thing, you can never replace perfection!
Mr.Carl Reiner - if you have the POWER to see that The Bonnie Hunt show is NOT CANCELLED..please find a way.
My family, friends and co-workers all love this show. Bonnie and her staff with Don and the band and all the rest of the staff are a wonderful entertaining group. We love Alice, Bonnie's Mom too!!!
Bonnie is genuine, sincere, caring, very sharp, clever and extremely naturallly funny. No B.S from this lady!!!
I have never laughed so hard or cried along with her guests as she can bring out the best in everyone..Big stars and little children. Don't know what the NBC executives are thinking. I guess if the is no trash, then they cut the good entertainment. That's what is wrong with society and our children today...being influence by trashy shows. If the numbers are what you are looking for - change the time slot. Most people tape it and watch it later. CBC/FOX pick up this gem of an entertaing Talk Show. The best on TV today.
Bless you Bonnie for all our best viewing. Good Luck in the future. We are sure that good will come out of this.
An avid fan. We will really miss you!!!
I love the Bonnie Hunt SHow.....she is so much a woman that I can relate to....I enjoy her interviewing style, her choice of guests (her mom and lot of cute kids......how many times can we see Paris Hilton's WHo-WHo and listen to Paris' STUPID comments and have a good nervous laugh?.....yuck) Bonnie Hunt is smart, has grace and is only going to give us wonderful entertainment that we can all see with our families together....I hope that NBC will reconsider. I for one am sick of hearing about Lindsay Lohan's bad day. Bonnie just makes me laugh....I have been out of work for 8 months and she is the high point of my day sometimes.......I love to watch the show with my husband when he comes home before dinner.....come on, NBC.....stop with the bad TV....We want Bonnie Hunt!!!!!!!!
To say that Bonnie is not your typical talk show host. She can disagree with a guest and still treat them with dignity and respect. To say that she is in any way an "ass-kisser" is ludicrous. If you want to see "ass-kissing" just watch Jay Leno. Bonnie Hunt is a woman that I can relate to.Please keep he on... She is a true treasure.
The Bonnis Hunt Show was the only show that maqde me laugh. It was refreshing and always left me feeling better. It was different then any other talk show especially "The View" which has become a group of women that talk over each other and are so self important, who cares what they think. The View is the one that should be cancelled. As usual, when I finally find a show the I enjoy the suits upstairs take it off the air. Thanks a lot. I'll miss you Bonnie.
