AMC -- the network which airs Mad Men, for what it's worth -- has released a 2-minute sneak peak at Sunday's all-new episode ("The Good News") that is sure to cause the show's creator much consternation. After all, it discusses Don's previously revealed holiday travel plans in greater detail, the traffic patterns to LaGuardia airport and reminds everyone that Harry Crane is kind of a jerk. If The Expendables' "R" rating for "strong action and bloody violence throughout, and for some language" weren't enough to convince you of its red-meat goriness, perhaps this latest bit of marketing will. Lionsgate has released a hella violent clip from the Sylvester Stallone action throwback to MySpace -- MySpace! -- and if it's a taste of what you can expect, get ready for burned-alive bad guys and Jason Statham wearing cool sunglasses.
The gore geeks over at Bloody Disgusting have managed to get their hands on the eight minute clip of Piranha 3D that showed off-site last week at Comic-Con and it's. . .well, it's bloody disgusting. The footage is a shaky bootleg, but the gore comes through loud and clear, as does its rampant nudity, so NSFW is an understatement. When Movieline asked Josh Hutcherson about being on the shortlist for Sony's Spider-Man reboot, he was positively bursting with excitement: "[I]t'd be an amazing role, I think. Washington, D.C., wouldn't have them, but Chicago was more than happy to welcome Michael Bay and his Transformers 3 road show downtown in recent days. The residency has yielded a bounty of ruinous, explode-y riches for photographers and videographers alike, the bulk of which arrived online over the weekend at a few different spots. The drinks are flowing early at Movieline HQ East, where the discovery of a vintage Charlton Heston/MPAA ratings advisory on YouTube has left even the cleaning lady in a state of transfixed awe. It's not just the corniness of it all; in fact, Heston's earnest, ambassadorial zeal for explaining the G, PG, R and X ratings (this thing is at least 40 years old) yields a bittersweet taste of Hollywood's Golden Era. So everyone's gotten over yesterday's Inception hype and has apparently moved on to something smaller called Life in a Day -- a collaboration between directors Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald that will comprise a bundle of user-generated clips shot and uploaded to YouTube on July 24. The finished product will premiere next January at the Sundance Film Festival. Today's PR blitz calls Life the "first user-generated feature-length documentary film shot on a single day" and a "historic global film experiment." Which wouldn't be so off-base -- if it were true.
