Although Gilmore Girls lives on at ABC Family and in the hearts of mothers and daughters around the world, Lauren Graham has moved on. After starring in a few films and trying her hand at television production, Graham returned to primetime last fall in NBC's ensemble drama Parenthood as Sarah Braverman, another character navigating the pitfalls of single motherhood in suburbia. This week, Movieline was among those meeting with Graham at Universal Studios to find out what project she'd like to tackle next, what confuses her about Gilmore Girls fandom, and what she considers to be a television success.

Sorry, no notable Mel Gibson this weekend on cable -- but there are plenty of sociopathic character portraits, suggesting that a Mel biopic of the shining-rise-and-hair-raising-fall-in-Hollywood type should be on somebody's table by now. And if anybody wants to talk to me about it, since it's my idea so far, I'm right here...

Julie Chen, the Big Brother and Early Show emcee, is taking on a strange new venture in the form of Sara Gilbert's View-like morning chatfest called The Talk. Alongside Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Leah Remini, Chen will bandy news topics, offer pithy opinions, and potentially channel the candor of Cedric the Entertainer. I spoke to her after The Talk's TCA panel in Beverly Hills and got her to admit the panelist she's most likely to have an Elisabeth Hasselbeck-worthy fight with on air.

When asked about Jay Leno's Tonight Show ratings (which dipped to a 17-year-lowthis past quarter) at the TCAs today, NBC Universal Chairman Jeff Gaspin wasted no time in whipping out a sheet of paper from his pocket that he had prepared for just this question.

Starting screen-printing those "Free Snooki!" shirts now. TMZ reports that Jersey Shore's resident history buff was arrested in Seaside Heights, New Jersey this afternoon because of disorderly conduct. This is in no way a publicity stunt to remind you that 5.3 million viewers tuned in to see the season premiere of Jersey Shore on MTV last night. No, really. It's probably not. [TMZ, Vulture]
After announcing at today's TCAs that Terence Howard would be joining the cast of Law & Order: Los Angeles, franchise creator Dick Wolf discussed the possibility of featuring copycat Lindsay Lohan and Mel Gibson crimes in the latest NBC spin-off.

It may be a political thriller-mystery that exists in an entirely different world than the candy-colored pools of Melrose Place, but NBC's The Event held an uninspired panel at the TCA press tour that inadvertently recalled the CW flop in three unfortunate ways.

Drew Carey will guest-star on Community this upcoming season, presumably to increase his hipster appeal. Obviously The Price is Right's new game "Brooklyn Rules," in which contestants match the cost of vintage clothing items with their equivalent weight in food truck Korean BBQ tacos has not raised his profile with the Arcade Fire set. In other NBC guest star news, Kathy Bates will return to The Office, and Rob Lowe has been upgraded from guest to series regular on Parks & Recreation.
Following in the footsteps of other NBC stalwarts like ER and Will & Grace, 30 Rock will air a live episode October 14, NBC Primetime President Angela Bromstad just announced at the network's executive panel at the TCA press tour. Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy will obviously scintillate a live audience, but I most look forward to seeing Pete Hornberger scowl in real time.
Good news, Upper East Siders: You may be getting a break from the cast of Gossip Girl. Because after shooting two (I admit it, beautiful) season-four episodes in Paris, executive producer Stephanie Savage revealed yesterday at the TCA Press Tour that she is considering taking the kids to another international city. Can you guess which one?

It couldn't have gone any other way: Last night's SYTYCD results show eliminated two beleaguered (though beloved) contestants who were never going to beat the judges' pretty-much-literal golden child Kent Boyd. B-Boy Jose was ordered to pop and lock elsewhere, while the voter-repellent Billy Bell -- my choice to win -- finally succumbed, too. (He was dressed like Charles Nelson Reilly trying to join the Second Continental Congress too, which didn't help.) We're down to four competitors, and now that the best one just left us, who's our best bet to win now?

Steve McPherson and his attorney are officially playing hardball. After The Hollywood Reporter claimed that part of the reason McPherson resigned as ABC entertainment president earlier this week was because of an alleged sexual harassment probe, McPherson's representatives responded that it was just "gossip and innuendo." Now lawyer Marty Singer has gone a step further.

Project Runway, our first real boyfriend, returned last night. He's nearly recovered from his abusive L.A. days, and he's promising 90-minute stamina and a bit more style, and he's even ditching his annoying wingman Models of the Runway. But do we care? Join us for some stray observations of the first episode and an answer to the unholy question, "Will we keep watching?"

Last night, Stephen Colbert printed out dialogue from one of Bethenny and Kelly's infamous fights this season and convinced Bravo exec Andy Cohen to act it out with him. Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston talked about the time she "Judy Garlanded" her way onto a plane, Jason Schwartzman revealed his best Comic-Con moment, Paul Rudd ruined the Tooth Fairy and Jon Stewart slammed The View.

It looks like Nigel Lythgoe is getting his wish: Reports are ping-ponging around the Internet that Idol has hired Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler to replace Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell (or Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres) on the three-judge panel next season. Three judges? So who didn't make the cut?
