Eureka! We've Found it!

Even though Sci Fi has transitioned to Syfy, many things about the network remain the same, most importantly the second best riff on nerds currently in production, Eureka (The Big Bang Theory takes first prize). Besides having some of the better visual effects in all of television, this show isn't afraid to be smart. While we would like to see more shows like Eureka on major networks, they would be canceled much too quickly.

Royal Enjoyment

There is a misguided conventional wisdom that summer shows are supposed to be frothy and fun, and that programs with substance and dark themes should be left for the dreary winter and spring months. USA's new medical/rich people dramedy mixes in a few heaping dashes of the heavy stuff, but Mark Feuerstein and Paulo Costanzo manage to be funny without having to sacrifice intelligence.

Tim Says/We Say: Breaking Down the New Crop of Project Runway Contestants

Oh hey, remember Project Runway? It's OK if you don't, because Lifetime will explain it to you: It's a fun show that fat, heterosexual cops and women from the mall can watch together! In fact, let's meet this new season's crop of female designers and their hilarious gay BFF's, shall we?

Doogie Howser, Top Chef

As How I Met Your Mother and the recent Tony Awards have proven, Neil Patrick Harris is a breath of fresh air wherever he goes. Now with an Emmy gig in the future, he's keeping the pedal to the metal and appearing on Top Chef Masters tonight on Bravo. Will there be singing and/or dancing? Hopefully yes, though probably not next to the flambé station.

On Day One, NBC Created a Show From the Ribs of Every Other Show

It appears that some NBC exec heard about the recent 2012 mashup trailer and decided to take all those elements quite literally, as the trailer for NBC's upcoming fall series Day One has just leaked and not only is it a disaster show that resembles 2012, it's a liberal mashup of just about every sci-fi/fantasy/NBC property out there. Let's count the allusions!

Goodbye, The Bachelorette's Wes: ABC's Latest Villain

It takes a special contestant on The Bachelorette to evoke the hatred of every viewer in America while sleazing his way to seven roses. If we've learned anything from Wes Hayden, the unabashed self-promoter with a girl back home, it's that dreams come true, in the form of network airtime promoting your band.

Today, the Syfy Channel Makes Hystyry

The Sci Fi Channel undergoes brand reassignment surgery today to become Syfy (pronounced like Sci Fi), in an effort to attract new and different segments of the television audience, like, for instance, females of any age whatsoever. Let's be honest though - they could call Sci Fi the Robert Pattinson/Flattering Sweatsuits/Cupcake Diet Network, but the second I see Romulans and Klingons facing off over mineral rights, I'm switching back to The Bachelorette.

The Ongoing Adventures of Super Nurse Jackie

Some series take a few episodes to catch their stride, and tonight Nurse Jackie does exactly that. The acquired taste of the tale of a sarcastic super nurse has matured, populated by fully-formed characters whose predictability can now be exploited. (Prepare for curveballs.) If it sounds like a lot of intelligent thinking and scheming, that's why it's on Showtime.

The Listener is All Ears, Lady

Of all the shows on network television, NBC's The Listener might have the most interesting title. Other shows have punny titles (The Biggest Loser) or names that suggest sexy things (Private Practice, Big Brother), but there is nothing deep or ironic about The Listener. It's a guy who listens to stuff and then helps people. If this show succeeds, don't be surprised when it spins-off The Hearer.

Meet This Summer's Fresh Crop Of Psychotic, Narcissist Big Brother Houseguests

· Here's your first glimpse of the token everythings from the upcoming season of Big Brother. We'd keep an eye on that Braden fellow -- he's learned "extremely a lot throughout traveling around, you know, Europe by myself, China by myself," and those worldly insights could give him just the edge he needs to sit around an inflatable pool yammering on about who's going to win Head of Household for 15 interminable weeks. Also one to watch out for: Laura's gigantic left breast.

Lifetime Now Overcompensating By Planning Gayest TV Episode Ever

If Lifetime is determined to prove in its new ad campaign that Project Runway is harmless mainstream programming enjoyed by the least hip heterosexuals in the country, at least the network is planning to throw LGBTs a glittery bone by planning what may be the gayest episode of series television since the NBC-scuttled episode of My Two Dads entitled "Merlot and Revelations."
