Which Skit is Set to Be the First SNL Movie In a Decade?
There haven't been any Saturday Night Live skits converted into movies since the one-two punch of Superstar and The Ladies Man almost ten years ago. Today, though, a brand-new attempt was announced and granted an imminent summer shoot date. Can you guess which one?
From Production Weekly's Twitter:
Jorma Taccone will direct "Magruber," based on the SNL sketch parody of the TV show "MacGyver" filming begins next month in New Mexico.
You may remember that Taccone mentioned to us that he'd been directing the MacGruber skits, and Lorne Michaels has been warning us for a while now that he wanted to proceed with a movie version. Congrats to our Verge alum, even if we're not sure this is the Wayne's World successor that the whole world was clamoring for (still, at least it's not "Cougar Den").

Jorma's got to work in some original Lonely Island Material into this flick. Please?
I still maintain that doing something based on the Mom Jeans commercial would be the best choice. Tina, Rachel, Maya and Amy. All you'd ever need.
I hope Jorma is enjoying a nice crisp bottle of Santana DVX to celebrate this afternoon.
I smell another It's Pat brewing.
...I was hoping for "Mark Walberg talks to animals". I loves me some Andy Samberg
That skit is the reason I Tivo SNL. So I can skip it.
Forte announced this on the Fallon show last month. PW is off by a few weeks.
I played with the Ween!
