Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds to Make Non-Sequel to The Proposal

Remember reading that Vulture piece earlier in the year about how Disney didn't want to make a sequel to The Proposal -- despite some $300 million in grosses worldwide -- because they couldn't make money off action figures, theme park rides, and other forms of merchandising? Well, it turns out the executives at Universal Studios aren't all that concerned with making money, since they've just reunited Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, screenwriter Peter Chiarelli and possibly director Anne Fletcher to make a non-sequel to The Proposal! Wait, what?

Buzz Break: Betty White Plots Escape from You Again Poster

· The look Betty White is giving on the You Again poster? We know, Betty. We know. Click for bigger.

· How bad was pre-Glee life for Chris Colfer? "[I spent] hours and hours on my Facebook and MySpace when I was in high school," he tells the AV Club, "constantly refreshing the page, just hoping somebody sent me something, like a message or left a comment, or just any kind of communication with another human being."

· Dennis Dugan told Cinema Blend that he'll be directing Jack and Jill, which casts Adam Sandler as a twin brother and sister. Yes, both.

· Has Splice gotten you in the mood for creepy, cross-bred cinematic babies? Here are a bunch more.

· How did we miss this? Our sister site Hollywood Life says Rosie Huntington-Whiteley clinched her Transformers 3 gig by showing up to the audition in transparent white lingerie. Yeah, that would do it.

The 9 Best Shots from the Second, Ridiculous Showgirls 2 Trailer

Back in February, we brought you 9 compelling images from the first trailer for Showgirls 2, an unauthorized, insane semi-sequel to Paul Verhoeven's camp classic that appeared to have been cobbled together from B-roll, spare footage of naked ladies writhing around, and sheer chutzpah. Now director Marc Vorlander has released a second trailer (and the film has been retitled to Showgirls Exposed, because duh, copyright issues) and it is so joy-inducing that it made me clap my hands together several times like I was either a seal or Paula Abdul. Let's get right down to it: here are the 9 best stills from this new masterpiece, and then the trailer at the end.

Tom Cruise Prepping the Les Grossman Movie You Never Knew You Wanted

As we all know, Tom Cruise reprised his character Les Grossman yesterday and essentially usurped Aziz Ansari's hosting role on the MTV Movie Awards in order to promote the DVD of Tropic Thunder or something? I dunno his new movie Knight and Day, where he stars as Ashton Kutcher opposite Cameron Diaz's Katherine Heigl. Do you feel like it went well? He feels like it went well! So well, in fact, that he is now threatening us with promising much, much more for the character.

Van Sant Actually Wanted to Direct Breaking Dawn

Back when Summit was pursuing directors like Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola to direct the final Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn, I figured they were simply shooting for the moon. In the new issue of New York, however, the always candid Bret Easton Ellis reveals that Van Sant went after the job himself. "You can make a lot of money doing that," Ellis whispered. Let's hope that Bill Condon gives the shirtless werewolves some skateboards to use as a tribute to his fallen comrade. [New York]

Is Jamie Bell Your New Spider-Man?

Forget Logan Lerman, Josh Hutcherson and -- sadly -- Donald Glover. Your next Peter Parker is definitely-probably-maybe Jamie Bell. Or, maybe not. The latest casting rumor for Marc Webb's reboot of Spider-Man comes from the site Bleeding Cool, which reports that Bell has defeated all other comers to earn the coveted role. The British actor should be used to cartoons by now: He's already toplining the Steven Spielberg/Peter Jackson adaptation of The Adventures of Tin Tin. Developing... [Bleeding Cool viaThe Playlist]

Mad Men Wins at BAFTAs

Mad Men dominated the Emmys for two straight seasons in America, and if the recent British Academy of Film and Television Association Awards are any indication, the third season will also win top honors. AMC's marquee series won the BAFTA for Best International Show yesterday over Nurse Jackie, Family Guy, and True Blood. No argument from me -- but I hope when Mad Men does rack up Emmy noms again, Christina Hendricks wins her first nod and some damn credit for her towering vase-smash of a season. [Zap2It]

Guillermo del Toro Admits: 'I am No Longer an Official Voice for The Hobbit'

The Hobbit may be down a director amidst turmoil at MGM, but it keeps moving right along. (Psst, Lost fans: we hear that Widmore and Keamy both went in to read for roles this past week). Since Guillermo del Toro bolted from the production last week, he's promised to deliver a second statement about just what went down, and that longer missive came late last night. His explanation? Yeah, it was basically that whole "I wanted my life back ever endless delays" thing.

Christians Claim that Ellen's Gayness is Killing American Idol, Suggest Roman Polanski As Next Reality Judge

On the heels of American Idol's lowest season finale numbers ever, a Christian news site is making such a claim so ridiculous that it's almost funny: Ellen DeGeneres' sexual orientation is responsible for Idol's drop in ratings. And while they're at it, the site also alleges that television is on a "pro-homosexuality bender" and that adding Ellen to Idol is just as bad as giving Roman Polanski a seat on the Dancing with the Stars judging panel. Wait, what?

Weekend Receipts: Shrek the Third

Not once in 2009 did a movie lead the box office for three or more straight weeks. Here in 2010, though, that trick has been turned by Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and now Shrek Forever After -- the animated sequel easily held off newcomers Get Him to the Greek and Killers to retain the top spot for a third straight week. And while other new releases Marmaduke and Splice failed to crack the top-ten, the biggest loser of the weekend was -- once again -- MacGruber: The comedy shed over 2,300 screens and dropped 93.9 percent in its third week. Yikes squared. Say a prayer for Will Forte and click ahead for some weekend receipts.

Sandra Bullock Makes First Public Appearance

Bad news, producers of tonight's MTV Movie Awards: That exclusive "first formal public appearance" of Sandra Bullock that you've been touting isn't so exclusive any longer. Bullock was a surprise guest at the Spike TV Guy's Choice Awards last night -- where she accepted her trophy for Troops Choice Entertainer of the Year -- meaning when she accepts the MTV Generation Award tonight, it will actually be her second public appearance and not her first. Though since the MTV Movie Awards air live and the Guy's Choice Awards don't air until June 20th, the music network still has the upper hand. The moral of the story? If you want a celebrity to break a prolonged silence, offer them a fake award. [TMZ]
