The numbers are in for the second, far more limited, and presumably final weekend of release for Joel Schumacher's outlandish, preposterous teen-excess drama Twelve. And they're not good: A week after grossing a stunning $477 per screen (adjusted up from the original $463 average), the film tumbled to an even more abysmal $286 average on (appropriately) 12 screens. The total gross as of Sunday was $181,591, meaning roughly 17,000 Americans paid money to see a film with a 4-percent fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating. If you're among them, Movieline wants to hear from you!

· When Amanda Bynes isn't Tweeting that she's retired from acting or that she's unretired from acting, she can be downright cryptic in the space of 140 characters. Watch as plebeians try to understand the All That alum's messages and orally RT each others' confusion. [PopEater]

So today at the notorious blog People of Wal-Mart, a conversation got underway about whether or not that was really Jennifer Garner photographed shopping at a Wal-Mart in Broken Arrow Bartlesville, Oklahoma. All evidence points to "yes" -- her trademarks dimples, her daughter Violet... oh, and that movie her husband happens to the planning in the area with Terrence Malick. Click through for the full image and more weirdness.

Unfortunate news: Michael Douglas has a tumor in his throat, which will force the 65-year-old actor to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy (potentially putting him out of commission during the September 24 release of his next film, Oliver Stone's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps). Doctors expect him to make a full recovery, and Douglas himself issued a statement saying, "I am very optimistic." [People]
In America, we both admire and fear British actors: On the one hand, we give them all our Oscars, but on the other, we constantly make them play villains. Now, in news that will either make Alan Rickman very happy or cause him to file a panic-stricken unemployment application, Paramount is resolving to cast actors with more indeterminate accents in the studio's bad guy roles. Tommy Wiseau, now is your moment. [New Zealand Herald via MCN]
So we all know Sofia Coppola's Somewhere has the potential to be one of the year's awards frontrunners/critical darlings/Toronto Film Festival breakouts. But can you caption it? A batch of new stills making the rounds today yields this one featuring Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning as a caddish movie star and his 11-year-old daughter spending quality time together at the Chateau Marmont. And there is no bonding like a card game. See the full-size image (and use your imagination) after the jump.

While appearing today with guest host Christopher Walken on The Leonard Lopate Show, actress Zoe Kazan updated anxious WNYC listeners on the status of Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens. Kazan's boyfriend, Paul Dano, co-stars in the film and is apparently having a blast on-set, drinking margaritas with Sam Rockwell and "James Bond" (star Daniel Craig). You'll recall Rockwell told Movieline something similar last month at Comic-Con. Anyone else excited for the making-of documentary on the DVD? [WNYC]
Continuing its strong run of theatrical acquisitions and the entertaining PR that accompanies it, Oscilloscope Pictures today announced that it picked up the drama Monogamy for release next year. Director Dana Adam Shapiro's (Murderball) narrative feature debut won Best NY Film at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, which is kind of an understatement; the Chris Messina/Rashida Jones relationship/surveillance intrigue was probably the best thing I saw during the entire fest. Not to be outdone, the occasion's requisite jokes from Shapiro and O-scope founder Adam Yauch follow the jump.

If you had Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sweepstakes, congratulations: You won! Deadline reports that the Nightmare on Elm Street star -- who was facing some pretty steep 12-1 odds against winning the coveted role -- will play Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's upcoming adaptation of the worldwide best-seller from Stieg Larsson. So what can she expect once she hits the set?

Too soon? Sorry. At least I didn't write, "Mel Gibson made his car wanna smoooooke last night after driving it into a rocky hillside on Malibu Canyon Drive." Ugh. OK, well, he wasn't injured! And cops today say that while the troubled Oscar-winner maintains he doesn't know how he drove his Maserati off the road (he declined to "give a firm 'yes' or 'no'" when asked if he fell asleep at the wheel), alcohol is not suspected and charges will not be filed. Huh? WHAT? Sorry, forget it. [TMZ]
So I'm bumping around the Web this morning looking for any morsel of sustenance in the Great News Drought of 2010 when I learn that the one and only Bruno S. died late last week. You know: Bruno S.? Berlin street musician and Werner Herzog's haunted, haunting leading man from Enigma of Kaspar Hauser and Strozsek? Oh. Well, the only thing more troubling than arriving almost five days late to the news is that I had to hear it from Sasha Grey. Via Twitter.

It looks like Naomi Watts and Michelle Williams have some company. According to author Andrew O'Hagan, Angelina Jolie will play Marilyn Monroe in the adaptation of his recent novel, The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe, meaning there are now three Monroe films in the pipeline. O'Hagan's book is told from the perspective of Monroe's Maltese terrier, a gift she received from Frank Sinatra (who will supposedly be played by George Clooney, natch). UPDATE: Reps for both actors have officially denied O'Hagan's claims. [The Guardian]
