These four clips from the Coen Brothers' True Grit are a welcome departure from the numerous "advanced clips" these days, which often turn out to be variations on scenes that played out more economically in the trailer. Here, we get a nice sense of the style of the movie as well as an engaging introduction to each of the major characters. My personal favorite is the first argument between Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges, which honestly doesn't do much to back up the Coens' claim that the film is departure in tone. But that's not necessarily a bad thing...

At the junket today for Country Strong (or, as I prefer to think of it, Lady Crazy Heart), Gwyneth Paltrow's cell phone went off. The ring tone? "Dirt Off Your Shoulder." "Y'know, by Jay-Z," Ms. Paltrow helpfully reminded the crowd. Just color me surprised that she didn't refer to him as James-Zed. [@Nedrick]
About a year ago, Carrie Fisher off-handedly outed John Travolta in an interview with the Advocate and recently circled back around in the same publication to underscore what already is an open secret: John Travolta is gay. And frankly it's about damn time someone said it so blatantly.

With each discarded storyboard and never-used concept art, I think we as a viewing public realize what kind of horrific bullet we dodged when Tim Burton's Superman reboot died on the operating table. Well, even more evidence of the crazy, Nicolas Cage-starring clusterf*ck that would've been Superman Lives has emerged and it's a doozy.

Sure, we've been inundating you with anniversaries and reminders from Back to the Future, reminding you of the silver jubilee of even the most mundane McFly minutia. But there's another Christopher Lloyd 25th anniversary that shouldn't be forgotten, a film that was mostly ignored when first released, but which has blossomed into a comedy classic and a cult favorite. It also happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time, Clue.

There were no real winners this weekend as the third Chronicles of Narnia movie faced off against The Tourist and both of them performed well under expectations. But, like a Nevada Senatorial race, there had to be a victor, and Narnia edged out Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie for the dubious honor of not doing as horribly. Your weekend receipts are here.

Project Runway is truly the Giving Tree for the 21st Century. Since it debuted in 2004, it has bestowed upon the world many gifts, both good (Tim Gunn! Enchanted German woodcarving Heidi Klum!) and bad (The Models aftershow! Michael Kors' nightmare-inducing unearthly hue!). It helped cement Bravo as a viable network and got Lifetime to stop airing so many movies about breast cancer starring Meredith Baxter Birney. And now, there's a new Runway spinoff on the horizon.

A malevolent virus stalks the halls of McKinley High and has already felled many of even the most hale members of the Glee club. And while it would be cool to imagine it's some weird zombie virus (Rachel Berry was born to stalk the earth for delicious brains!), it's actually just a nasty case of tonsillitis. Filming of their post-Super Bowl special was halted to give the poor sickies the weekend off, but will resume on Monday. For once, young Hollywood types are actually suffering from exhaustion rather than just too much blow and whiskey. It's a Christmas miracle! [EW]
If you're an actor who's contractually obligated to stay pale 'n pasty for at least two more sparkly vampire flicks, your options for outside work are limited. You could play the most handsome World of Warcraft dork ever or you could play a turn of the century high class grifter, making his way through the cream of Parisian society. Guess which one Robert Pattinson chose?

As Christmas draws nearer audiences decided that perhaps their time would be better spent with a metaphorical Jesus than Angelina Jolie, and so the latest entry in the Chronicles of Narnia series topped the box office. Meanwhile the Depp-Jolie joint venture, The Tourist, had to settle for number two. `Tis the season! Your Friday box office is here.

The holidays are punishing enough without having to contend with that one person you just can't get out of your head no matter how hard you try -- but enough about Andy Samberg and his blowtorch. In fact, the week at Movieline was full of such emotional luminaries, gathered conveniently here in your Week in Review. Please do drop by tomorrow and Sunday for the calming binary-code stylings of Dixon Gaines, and enjoy your weekend!

· Well, what is there to say? Apparently this clip of Jeff Daniels in Dumb & Dumber enduring an episode of explosive diarrhea really did air during a CNN newscast. Gawk with us! [THR]

The Blue Valentine awards show freight train pulled into the Kips Bay AMC in New York City on Thursday night and the perpetually stoic stars of the film, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, got downright hysterical. In the span of just ten minutes the prettier-than-thou duo were retelling stories of nipple bleeding, the recent overturn of their film's controversial rating and the rumored trysts of Marilyn Monroe. Are these two joking their way to (deserved) Oscar nominations?

Success is subjective in Hollywood, especially with franchises. But with his Chronicles of Narnia franchise on now on its second distributor in three films, Walden Media president Michael Flaherty confessed he's all in with this weekend's Voyage of the Dawn Treader. At least he's got a sense of humor about it: "There have been a number of cheesy nautical references throughout the production of VDT, but we truly are sunk in making any more films from the Chronicles if this one falls short of expectations." Also: No, Aslan isn't a Buddha or Mohammed figure. As you were. [Big Hollywood]
Considering the amount of fanfic on the Internet, it's likely that somewhere buried in the dark, twisted knotting of Al Gore-created tubes, there's a sect of readers who have always wanted to see the office drones of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce co-mingle with those plucky wizards from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As such, here's the first official still of Harry Potter star Emma Watson on the set of My Week with Marilyn. Matthew Weiner, say hello to the next future Mrs. Don Draper.
