Here's Your Ferris Bueller-Themed Honda Super Bowl Ad

The mysterious Ferris Bueller-themed Honda commercial that I was telling you about last week has been unveiled. On the one hand, it's just Matthew Broderick and a string of references to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, with the actor calling out ill to work to go frolic around town in his Honda CR-V. So technically, no legacies were harmed in the making of this TV spot. On the other hand, for a guy who's supposed to be having a day off, I don't know if I've never seen Broderick work harder in my life.

Anyway, give it a try! It's only 145 seconds, and will at least buy you a built-in bathroom break this coming Super Bowl Sunday.

I'm of the age that I loved (and still love) Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

That hit enough of the jokes from the movie to be enjoyable without being too cheesy but I wished he could have found a way to run into Alan Ruck and Mia Sara.

    ...especially Mia Sara.

  • I wish he had some friends along with him. Couldn't they at least convince Sarah Jessica Parker to hang out with him on his sick day?

This commercial did something to take away from Matthew Broderick, and add to that of John Hughes. Think of him before you did this, Matthew? The kind of people who put this together would be the kind of people who wouldn't use and destroy class people, to get a hit? Outrageous ... we're not all together thinking Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller were just generational markers. This is sacrilege.
