9 Suggested New Titles for Will Ferrell's Dubious New Comedy Casa de mi Padre

casa-de-mi-padre-trailer-header.jpgMaybe I'm still annoyed nearly ten years after I saw Anchorman in theaters and was so angry with its juvenile, unfunny, dude-baiting humor that I'm sour to any movie whose theme is "Will Ferrell is a hilariously alpha dimwit!" -- but I'm pretty sure Ferrell's new jam Casa de mi Padre with Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna is downright moronic for real. In fact, the sophisticated-sounding title isn't a good fit for the film (though it is written entirely in Spanish) and ought to be replaced. Here are nine titles we'd consider, along with the movie's new teaser trailer.

1. Y Su Papá Estúpido También

2. Telemundo Nights: The Ballad of Armando Alvarez

3. Armando Hug 'N Kiss

4. Wedding Rancheros

5. The Adventures of Zorro's Dumber Brother

6. We Bought a Zorro

7. A Mildly Amusing Rum Commercial Stretched to 104 Minutes

8. Bewitched 2

9. Macho Libre

I think #9 is the best fit. Any to add?

You lost me at "Anchorman [is] unfunny." I get that people have different senses of humor, but perhaps you aren't the person to be evaluating the clip. I love lamp.

  • Mike says:

Why do they have people who are so opposed to an actor/directing writing articles about them on this website? Seriously, it makes this website seem like a bunch of negative internet trolls with nothing better to do, as opposed to an actual, functioning website.

    That's a trailer, not a TV spot?

  • Brent says:

I'm beginning to believe that movieline hates all comedic movies with some of your most recent posts.

  • anonymous says:

Um, I don't know what the hell you were smoking, Anchorman is one of the greatest comedies of all time.

  • Bill says:

Ay, Louis! You certainly know how to lure the knuckle dragging mouth breathers out of their double-wides. We sometimes forget that for all too many, Will Farrell movies are seen as documentaries or reality shows rather than fiction. Either way, I agree with you, they're not comedy.

  • Charles says:

Louis is close to being right about "Anchorman." Its only saving grace is Steve Carrell, who is hysterically funny. Will Ferrell, on the other hand, is woefully unfunny in the movie.

  • BruceD says:

Anchorman is a god among comedies. If you don't like him, that's all valid but I mainly have trouble when he acts in a serious role and it isn't spelled out before you get a dvd ,,, and you are expecting comedy throughout but its not delivered. Its like comedians reach a point were they know they have run dry and have to go drama a while. Same happened to Ben stiller. However if Tarantino can dress up spaghetti westerns as new material, surely Will can make jest of them? No?
