Being Flynn Trailer: Robert De Niro Cordially Invites You to Suck City

Poet/playwright Nick Flynn's memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City is right for a movie adaptation: Its two main characters, Flynn and his father, are deep, articulate characters with a lot of angst to go around. In the first trailer for Focus's adaptation Being Flynn, the younger Flynn (Paul Dano) analyzes the value of reuniting with his estranged father (Robert De Niro). Clip after the jump.

Dano and De Niro seem perfect in their perturbed roles, but I'm particularly psyched for Julianne Moore, who appears to give a performance as august and understated as ever, and Olivia Thirlby, who we haven't seen enough of since Juno. Since it's slated to come out in spring 2012, we'll have one fine-looking adult film to anticipate in the post-Oscar tundra. Remember May of 2010 when the only great movie in a three-month period was Nicole Holofcener's Please Give? I'm hoping Being Flynn marks a similar oasis.

Verdict: Happily booking a one-way ticket to Suck City.
