Video: Bill Murray Might Rather Conduct Harvard's Marching Band Than Read a Ghostbusters 3 Script
We may not know whether Bill Murray will reprise his role of Peter Venkman in the highly anticipated, highly rumored Ghostbusters 3 but we do know that the notoriously reclusive actor will spontaneously conduct an Ivy League marching band if the Ghostbusters theme song is in their set list. Video evidence from last weekend's Harvard-Cornell game follows.
According to The Crimson, the actor stormed the Harvard band bleachers during the third quarter of Saturday's football game against Cornell after the band finished playing the Ghostbusters theme song.
"This guy in pink pants walked up and said, 'Hey, play that song again,'" said Harvard University Band Manager Rachel L. Hawkins '12. Hawkins said that the band had no idea Murray was at the game and that "Ghostbusters" is just part of their usual set list. "He kind of appeared out of nowhere. It was very serendipitous."
After the game (which Harvard won, 41-31), Murray revisited the band and faux-conducted as they performed fight songs. The actor was reportedly attending the game with friend and former Saturday Night Live writer James Downey...who has no affiliation with the Ghostbusters franchise.
Last we heard, Bill Murray had still not read the Ghostbusters 3 script. Regardless, Dan Aykroyd hopes to begin production this spring.
