10 First Impressions of the New Machine Gun Preacher Poster
I'm sworn to secrecy regarding my recent previewing of Machine Gun Preacher, director Marc Forster's forthcoming biopic about Sam Childers, a Pennsylvania junkie ex-con-turned-born-again-orphanage-building-gunslinging savior of Sudan. But there's nothing that I or anybody else can say about the film that isn't summed up in its new one-sheet featuring star and co-producer Gerard Butler, which is like whoaaa.

Not to take the easy, cynical way out either -- Childers's real-life story is genuinely mindblowing -- but Jesus Christ indeed, pray for this poster. What to even say about it?

Why be so PC sensitive and play the race card. Given the premise for this film (and true story) it is an awesome poster!
What offends me the most is that he's clearly holding an assault rifle, and not a machine gun.
(This message brought to you by the National Association For The Picking Of Nits.)
Also, considering that it's based on the true story of a white man saving African orphans, I don't think they have many other choices when it comes to poster imagery.
Like I said, I've seen this thing, and trust me when I say that this movie is about a lot more than that, and there are 100 more creative options for marketing it than Gerard the White Giant and a kid _who isn't even the main one in the movie_. It basically purports to say, "If you've seen/saved one Sudanese orphan, then you've seen/saved them all." A Sally Struthers commercial has more conviction.
Is this a prequel to Cop and a Half?
When I saw the poster, I did not have one of your 10 first impressions. Why so negative?....Or maybe you are trying to be funny, don't know? I can't wait to see this movie. I am a Christian and a Gerard Butler fan, so I am excited.
^LOL
This world is full of white hero's, we are so lucky!
Awesome things here. I'm very glad to see your post. Thanks a lot and I am looking ahead to contact you. Will you please drop me a e-mail?
