Howard Stern Show Copy of Super 8 Leaks Online, and 5 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today
Also in this Monday edition of The Broadsheet: Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon get dirty... Bryan Cranston may join World War Z... you'll never guess who wrote the possible sequel to Conan the Barbarian... and more ahead.
· From Butt Bongo Fiesta to bit torrent? Not exactly. Over the weekend, it was revealed that a recently pirated copy of Super 8 circulating the Internet originally belonged to Howard Stern -- though neither Stern nor anyone associated with his show actually leaked the J.J. Abrams-directed summer blockbuster. Paramount wasn't sure how the security breach occurred, but Stern has some ideas. On his show this morning, the host claimed the bootleg was released online by a disgruntled Paramount intern with an axe to grind against Stern. Must be an Opie & Anthony fan. [Deadline, Stern Fan Network]
· Fingers crossed that Jeff Nichols can make this cast come together. The Take Shelter director is in talks with Reese Witherspoon and Matthew McConaughey for Mud, "a redemptive tale of a charismatic fugitive (McConaughey) and his unlikely friendship with a 14-year-old kid (Tree of Life's Tye Sheridan) who is determined to help Mud escape from the law and some tough bounty hunters so he can reunite with his soul mate Juniper (Witherspoon)." Heady stuff! Sounds like A Perfect World but not. [Deadline]
· There's that news van again. Ubiquitous trade presence Bryan Cranston is in talks to take a "small but notable role" opposite Brad Pitt in World War Z. [THR]
· The possibly not-happening sequel to next week's Conan the Barbarian was written by none other than Conan himself. Jason Momoa revealed that he wrote the sequel script in an interview with Crave Online. "We're waiting to see if they'll accept it." [Crave]
· Stacy Keach has joined the cast of The Bourne Legacy opposite Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Joan Allen and Albert Finney. Think he'll play a bad guy? [Variety]
· Joel David Moore -- the nerdy guy from Avatar next to be seen in Shark Night 3D -- will co-star opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt in the film adaptation of the off-Broadway hit Jewtopia. Mazel tov, Joel! [Variety]
