Tom Hardy Potentially Under the Impression People Liked Batman & Robin

tomhardy_bane120.jpgTom Hardy has a message for all Batman fans -- his Bane is different from the Bane that appeared in Batman & Robin. Hopefully that isn't a problem. "I think Bane's fucking cool so I'm really excited to play him," he told TotalFilm. "It's not the guy in Joel Schumacher's film, but it shouldn't disappoint fanboys." He's not the guy in the Joel Schumacher film that everyone hates with the fire of 1000 suns? Oh, Tom; that's a good thing! You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling. [TotalFilm]

There's still going to be a motorcycle race refereed by Coolio, though, right?

Thats good. Bane was never a character like they showed in Batman and Robin. A character they showed was almost like a lifeless frankenstein monster doing the bidding of his master. Bane isnt like that at all. He's smart, treacherous, etc. Bane is his own villain in his own way and I hope thats how they will portray him in the movie. Also i hope they dont mess up on his super-self when he activates the venom. He has to look bigger and stronger.

I thought I liked Tom Hardy, but he made me remember Batman & Robin, so now I'm forced to hate him.

I don't think he understands the success of this movie is almost entirely riding on his performance. Every good superhero flick (Iron Man notwithstanding) has a good villain.
