Celebrate Top Gun Day in Honor of the Film's 25th Anniversary

For some people, Friday the 13th is a time to rub any available rabbit's feet and throw salt over their shoulders. For you, however, this particular Friday the 13th is a time to honor Maverick, Goose, Iceman, and aviator sunglasses. That's right: It's Top Gun Day!

To celebrate the film's 25th anniversary -- get ready to feel old: Top Gun came out on May 16, 1986 -- fans are encouraged to do one or all of the following:

· Update social media avatars to something Top Gun-y.

· Quote Top Gun to friends, family and co-workers.

· Wear aviator sunglasses.

· Play a round of shirtless volleyball in jeans with your best buddies.

There other things to do on this special day as well, though -- oddly -- watching Top Gun doesn't seem to have made the list. Too bad, since when was the last time anyone actually sat down to do that?

Anyway, if you have the need for speed nostalgia, here's a good way to waste a couple of hours. Head over to the Top Gun Day website for more details.
