· It's the Dawson's Creek-Gossip Girl crossover you've always been hoping for! Katie Holmes and Chace Crawford have signed on for Responsible Adults, an indie comedy about a 30-year-old medical student (Holmes) who falls for a 22-year-old (Crawford) and eventually realizes that she used to babysit him. Awkward! Jon Poll (Charlie Bartlett) will direct. [Deadline]

· The strange tale of Alec Baldwin co-starring in Rock of Ages keeps getting stranger. Despite reports on Tuesday that he had dropped out of the project, New Line claimed he was still involved; now the studio is saying that Baldwin wants out, "if at all possible." Considering how difficult Baldwin's part was to cast in the first place -- Will Ferrell and Steve Carell passed before Baldwin signed on to play Dennis, the Los Angeles club owner -- that might not be possible. Compounding matters even more: shooting is set to begin on May 23. [Deadline]

· Speaking of Baldwin: He will return as the host of the Hamptons International Film Festival's SummerDocs series. The star is set to introduce Page One when it screens there on July 22. [Variety]

· Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber and Christina Hendricks have been cast in The Bleeder, which sounds like The Beaver if you say it quickly. The film is based on the true story of boxer Chuck Wepner, a womanizer who went 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali. Fun fact: Wepner's story inspired Sylvester Stallone to write Rocky. And now you know. [Variety]

· Kiefer Sutherland will lead the most random cast ever in the heist comedy Sleight of Hand. How random? Gerard Depardieu, Til Schweiger, Thomas Jane and Jon Lovitz co-star. [Deadline]

· Fox canceled a lot of shows that you probably didn't care that much about (The Chicago Code, Breaking In), but picked up two that you might someday: the J.J. Abrams pilot Alcatraz starring Jorge Garcia, and The New Girl (formerly Chicks and Dicks), from Movieline crush Liz Meriwether. Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson star in that one. [Deadline]
