Rob Marshall Will Direct Johnny Depp in The Thin Man

depp-120.jpgFresh off Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Rob Marshall will produce and direct the remake of The Thin Man remake for Warner Bros., with Johnny Depp attached to star. "[W]e are looking forward to working with Warner Bros. to create a reinvention of a beloved story," said Marshall in the press release. Any guesses on who will play Nora to Depp's Nick? • Peggy says:

Ugh. I am more than annoyed they are remaking this classic. And with Depp as Nick Charles? I don't see it at all.
I'll be passing on this one and just watching William Powell and Myrna Loy do their thing beautifully.

  • happygolucky says:

    Marion Cotillard?

  • Troofire says:

    Queen Latifah

  • Melissa Dixon says:

Very hard to imagine anyone topping William Powell and Myrna Loy in those roles... but Robert Downey Jr. would be a much better fit for "The Thin Man's" style of humor, I'd think. (I can easily imagine him pulling off that classic Christmas-ornament-shooting scene.) Maybe Depp could trade Downey for "Sherlock Holmes"...

  • blizzard bound says:

I always thought Joan Cusack looks a lot like Myrna Loy. Too old? She has the chops for the role, though. Maybe you should add her to one of those women comedy fantasy casts.

  • The Winchester says:

Realize it's cliched as hell, but now is one of those times when it's ok to complain about Hollywood not having any original ideas anymore, right?
