Ugh. I am more than annoyed they are remaking this classic. And with Depp as Nick Charles? I don't see it at all.
I'll be passing on this one and just watching William Powell and Myrna Loy do their thing beautifully.
Marion Cotillard?
Queen Latifah
Very hard to imagine anyone topping William Powell and Myrna Loy in those roles... but Robert Downey Jr. would be a much better fit for "The Thin Man's" style of humor, I'd think. (I can easily imagine him pulling off that classic Christmas-ornament-shooting scene.) Maybe Depp could trade Downey for "Sherlock Holmes"...
I always thought Joan Cusack looks a lot like Myrna Loy. Too old? She has the chops for the role, though. Maybe you should add her to one of those women comedy fantasy casts.
Realize it's cliched as hell, but now is one of those times when it's ok to complain about Hollywood not having any original ideas anymore, right?
