You saw the cryptic sizzle reel for Paolo Sorrentino's This Must Be the Place and now, Sony Pictures has released a new clip from the Cannes entry for us to enjoy. Starring Sean Penn as an oddball ex-rocker determined to track down the Nazi who humiliated his late father and Frances McDormand as his wry sidekick of sorts, this clip appears captures a moment at the beginning of Penn's onscreen adventure. Penn is obviously channeling The Cure's Robert Smith for his This Must Be the Place musician but is he also tapping into Edward Scissorhands's socially awkward but sweet-natured goth for inspiration too?

This Must Be the Place debuts at the Cannes Film Festival, and will hit theaters sometime this year.
