Adam Shankman Confirms Russell Brand is Lonny in Rock of Ages, but Amy Adams is Out
Confirming a report from earlier this month, director Adam Shankman Tweeted today that Russell Brand is officially on board for Rock of Ages -- and that he'll play Lonny, the narrator of the Sunset Strip-set rock saga, which is also set to star Tom Cruise as the douchebag rocker Stacee Jaxx, Julianne Hough, Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, and Diego González Boneta.
But at least one big name won't be joining the gang in Shankman's adaptation of Chris D'Arienzo's stage musical: Amy Adams, whose Man of Steel commitments mean she can't take on the role of a journalist who hooks up with Cruise's character.
Shankman also teases that Brand will sport a Nikki Sixx mullet in his film, which makes so much sense, but only inspires more questions: Like, has there ever been a better idea in the history of rock hairography? And better yet, does this inspire more hope that Brand will star in that Mötley Crüe biopic?
