For Sale: No One Will Mess with You Once You Own John Wayne's Eye-Patch and Cowboy Hat

Johnwayne_truegrit_300.jpgEthan Wayne, the son of John, has announced that John Wayne Enterprises will be auctioning off a huge collection of John Wayne memorabilia this Fall. True, the prices are expected to reach amounts as high as $50,000, but in comparison to say, a life-size Darth Vader, many of these items are actually functional and practical, and could potentially improve the owner's life many times over! Let's take a closer look.

· Wayne's eye-patch from the original True Grit

Let's say you've been slaving away at an underpaid desk job for years, watching your ideas for innovation and requests for promotion get rejected time and time again. What does someone have to do to get a little respect? Well, for starters, try wearing Rooster Cogburn's original eye-patch to the office every day. Do you think anyone's going to tell you to be more "proactive" or "think more outside the box" while you're wearing an eye-patch worn by Wayne? Doubtful.

This item is doubly valuable if you only have one eye.

· A selection of Wayne's cowboy hats:

Any one of these could work the same magic as the previous item, provided that your workplace doesn't have some no-hat policy. Otherwise, wear it on weekends and you've got the ultimate ice breaker conversation topic at every bar. Also, it will keep the sun out of your eyes and help prevent skin cancer.

· John Wayne's Golden Globe for True Grit

Buy this bad boy and watch your Oscar buzz skyrocket for at least a few months!

· John Wayne's driver's license

Even the meanest, most by-the-book cop well let you slide on that speeding ticket once you flash the original driver's license of his hero!

These are just the tip of the iceberg. The event, which is being overseen by heritage auctions, will also include "more than 400 other costumes, scripts, personal documents and awards." All profits will go to John Wayne Enterprises, which supports and funds the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
