Happy Friday! Here's the Trailer for Lars von Trier's Armageddon Movie, Melancholia

Kirsten Dunst is having some second thoughts about her decision to marry. Sure, as one character notes, she's positively glowing at her wedding, but soon she's in the back room about to cry. Finally she makes the confession: "I'm not really happy." Oh, the tragedy. If only another planet would come and crash into the earth to put her out of her misery! Ah, but have no fear; that hypothetical planet actually is hurtling toward our planet right now, and you know that Lars Von Trier is going to make sure that it collides! Yep, the trailer for Von Trier's "beautiful film about the end of the world," Melancholia, has arrived. Naturally, borderline NSFW nudity lies ahead.

At least give von Trier credit for being one of the few filmmakers who can make a golf course seem totally striking and cinematic. Most likely though, you already know whether or not you're on board for an end-of-days film from the director of Antichrist. As noted before, I'll follow Lars down whatever path he wants to take (well... almost), if only for the fact that even when his movies are awful, they're still more interesting than 95 percent of the other films hitting theaters these days.

If you want to get analytical, there are a number of striking images in the trailer, and it's interesting to see how the style seems to transition from the looser, Dogme '95 feel of his mid-career output to the epic, overly symbolic and lush cinematography of Antichrist and his earlier work.

But let's get back to what's actually important: This trailer more or less gives us confirmation that Lars Von Trier is going to smash another planet into the earth.

Verdict: Bring it on!
