Geek Civil War Brewing Over Sucker Punch
We all might be a little late to this rambling, amazing, must-read defense of Zack Snyder and his embattled Sucker Punch, but that's OK. Crazy is forever: "Maybe the fact is that you're afraid of success. Just like that screenplay you never wrote, or that song you never played for that girl you never asked out, you'd rather the safety of your own mediocre surroundings than losing something that was never yours to begin with to the success of popular acceptance. [...] Are you worried about losing what's yours? The one thing that you have confidence in? Your own limited authority?" [GeekScape via @ebertchicago]

I'm afraid of the flying dildo in the above picture.
How can anyone, even a deranged geek, feel this much passion for a boring piece of crap like Sucker Punch? It isn't even one of those so bad it's good movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space. Even the massive amount of eye candy in the movie couldn't make it watchable, and that is a searing indictment of Zach Snyder's skills as a writer and director.
I realize self-proclaimed geeks like to pigeon-hole themselves and hate on things that don't fit their world-view, but Moulin Rouge + Inception + Demon's Souls + Zach Snyder = instant win in my book.
And oh yeah, the soundtrack was fantastic, and the visuals were the best you'll see all year.
I've seen each of his movies multiple times in the theatres, and Sucker Punch is certainly no exception.
I may have certain opinions about the movie Sucker Punch, but I don't feel threatened by the fact that other people have opposing opinions. Nor do I feel the need to go to war over opposing opinions; especially over mere entertainment. I believe diversity is a good thing. So I have no totalitarian inklings to force my opinion on others as if the fate of the world rested upon people thinking just as I do. Nor do I get off on verbalizing ripping apart like a sadist.
I don't think the handful of retards who love this film are really numerous enough to warrant calling it a civil war. These are the same spazzes who see every genre flick and think that every one of them is fucking brilliant and YOU, the critic, are the problem because you just don't understand the brilliance of the movie and are incapable of having fun.
Reality check: Sucker Punch was fucking boring, pointless, and really, really stupid. The music was bad and as amateurishly implemented as the constant slow-mo and speed ramping. You'd have to have the mentality of an untrained ape to be impressed by CGI clusterfucks like this any more.
